Thursday May 24

run terrain 1:40:00 [2] **
Godley Head
Picking up controls from MADeventz with Rob J. It was really nice getting out in the hills under some clear skies and moonlight. Warm sea breeze coming in off the ocean.

Wednesday May 23

cycle 18:00 [2] 7 km (2:34 / km)
Commute
Easy ride in today with the pleasant tail wind. Looking forward to the first of the MADeventz series tonight -- should be excellent.

MADeventz: Taylor's Mistake
All in all I think it went off well. I think there were over 150 competitors in the end. Everyone seemed to enjoy it and many commented on the course/map, which is of course always great to hear.

We had one control that went missing before the race. I'm fairly confident that it was stolen prior to the event. Its never nice to have things go missing, as people spend vastly different times searching, and there is never a shortage of war stories of diligent search efforts. There was also another control (39) which was a bit trickier than the others and gave a bit of grief for some groups.

We'll be putting up a full report at http://www.smithson.co.nz/tmrogaine

orienteering 49:10 [3] *** 6.4 km (7:41 / km) +400m 5:51 / km
Godley Head
Really nice course by Sara and Aaron. I didn't feel like I was going that hard -- especially on the down hills with my munted ankle, but tried to keep a flow throughout.

I managed a lot of odd errors inside the circle considering the general lack of detail of the terrain -- mind fade I think. Often blindingly obvious controls seemed elusive. I also seemed to be veering left all day.

Nipped Carsten and Sneaky Smithson by a few seconds; Chris Forne was in form with 41 minutes.
