Spencerville
Georgia's no-track exercise on sand dunes. Very tricky in places. I went through a bit of a Bermuda triangle in one of the thickets, trying to relocate on repetitive knee high mounds, until I had to bail. opps. It was some great training for keeping us honest.

Apollo Hill
I made a few small mistakes early on, and had trouble finding the first forest control (not looking hard enough in the matagouri), but otherwise fairly clean. The hills were hard work - all good fun...

Exploring possible new map with Smithson and Chris. Very nice piece of beech forest that sits on a slumped terrace next to the Waimakariri. Lots of medium-scale contour detail, striking vegetation changes, wetlands, marshy clearings, boulders, re-rentrants and stream gullies. Generally light green (but very runnable), with large patches of white (especially along the network of ridges), a few semi-open and rough open manuka clearings, and a few secondary green marshes. Lots of opportunity for route choice. Overall, better than Waikaia, and on par with the proposed Lake Sylvan map. Very Delicious.

Only issues I really see are the logistics of getting people to the map (but this could be easily resolved), and there is no possiblity we've seen yet for white or yellow courses (although I still haven't seen the grassy flats to the east of the terrace, which has a nice little network of old braided river channels and vegetation boundaries.....
