Orienteering race (Sydney Summer Series #18) 48:52 [5] *** 10.51 km (4:39 / km) +147m 4:21 / km

Started around Ballast Point then did the northern controls. Got a bit confused with some of the mapping trying to find the stairs down on a couple of them. Then headed over to the southern side and eastern point. Skipped out no.3 and 2 but should have skipped a few more 10 pointers which would have cost me time. Finished on 530 points, got smashed by Jules.

Didn't really lose much time, maybe just <5 secs at a number of controls. It was really hot and I was feeling very tired from a big weekend training.

Alright run today. Felt pretty good. Bit scrappy around the controls as some were in the wrong place or on the ground. Could of done a slightly better route avoiding the traffic lights and long hill between 3 and 9. Started west through 10-6-28-16-26-4-13-24-23-8. Then the southern controls starting with the wrongly placed 2 then 12-18-30-14-19-27-7-15-1-11-29-20 then stuffed around 17 as it was in the wrong place. Terrible control placing as the transformer box is so obvious and whoever put the control out decided to put it on a tree not even close to the correct location. Finished through 21-25-5-3-9-22. So got all controls in 43.44, 20 secs behind Steve and a minute behind Aidan who flew around the course.

Started with a climb straight up to no.1 which legs didn't like. Lost 15 secs on no.2 missing the stairs down to the control then was very tentative through the bush controls as couldn't tape my ankle properly and also didn't know when the controls were going to turn up. Overran no.6 slightly and then from then on in the park was ok. Prob coulda saved a few seconds running around the cliffs to no.19.

Not feeling great today plus it was pretty hot. Did a northern loop then ran around Long Reef Headland and down the beach to the southern end of the map before the long road run back to the finish. Lost bits of time at 27 which was hidden under a rock, then tried to go bush from 16 to 4. Got all controls in 48.18 for 560 points, Richard-580 and Steve-570.
