Orienteering race (Australian Relay Champs) 40:45 [5] *** 7.75 km (5:15 / km) +98m 4:57 / km

In the NSW 2nd team with Josh B and new Finnish recruit Atte Lahtinen. Josh ran solid first leg finishing 6th not too far behind the lead pack. I was feeling pretty nervous and took the first one comfortably up the hill. Main aim of the course was just to not lose any major time and be competitive. Hit the first couple well and got caught a couple minutes by Shep going to 5. I got 5 better and he passed me again to 6. From there I felt pretty good and was able to keep the pace as he lost small bits of time. Had to put in a big effort on the long leg to try catch back the gap he was starting to pull. Passed the VICs going to 15 but ended up too early on 16. Finished a couple secs behind Shep and caught a few minutes on the two leading teams. Team ended up 5th.

Great effort by the other NSW team just missing out on the win in a sprint finish.

Had a shocker. Quite a technical course for a Uni. Didn't get into the map right from the start. After the short first control, was so hesitant to 2 and 3 then screwed up 5 getting caught out a few times on the route. Toby caught me a minute by 6 and I kept struggling to keep contact with the map finishing just behind him. One I'd like to have over again.
