Went into this thinking I'd hold back saving myself for NZ. I was wrong. Started off with Brooner, Mounty and Tristan White at a fast pace. Although I was happy for Brooner run ahead, was still getting dragged along a couple minutes behind up the beach. Stuffed around on #25 looking too early on the beach where Mounty got ahead. Brooner had gone to get another control and came up behind me a little later but caught him back up when he decided to do some additional hill reps at Wanda Sand Dunes trying to find the track to #43. We ran together for the next couple km then I thought he was going to collect the central street controls not realising he was just stopping at the shops. After that I struggled around the next hour on my own battling blisters from the sand collected in the dunes and even walking bits. Last half hour had to push the pace again in a race against the clock, finishing a couple minutes under with Brooner also just making it back on time.
