Event: Ottawa Half Marathon

orienteering race 33:00 [4] 4.5 km (7:20 / km)
shoes: Asics GT-2110
Awesome sprint mass start course today with a mix of forest and urban terrain. Made a quite a few small mistakes but i ended up winning. The finish sprint was on the 100m stretch of a track. I managed 18 seconds..not bad.

Running race 19:50 [5] 5 km (3:58 / km) vdot: 50.3
shoes: Asics GT-2110
Ran the Ottawa race weekend 5k. Wanted to do the 10k but the 5k was only 15$ for those under 19.

I was running late for the race because i spent quite a long time on the toilet before leaving home, and the traffic getting downtown was crazy. I finally got there without a warmup or stretching about 5 minutes before the start and tried to get as close as i could to the line(which was not very close). When the gun went i had to wait at least 30 seconds to cross the line meanwhile i was squeezing my way by ladies with strolers and families holding hands. When i did cross the start line i was basically sprinting out into the traffic lane when there were no cars to try and get by people. Once it thinned out i had a pretty good race and i was running at a good pace. I crossed the line at 20 30 or so, but i felt i had a lot of energy left afterwards. I wasnt really satisfied becuase even though it was a lot of fun, it was so short and i felt i could have done better.
