Very surprised at how thick the woods were, and how hard the running was. Made small mistakes on the majority of controls, mainly close to or in the circle. A hard race to jump into after not running in harriman for a while.

Only the last string of controls from 17 onwards felt good. My shape felt great, but I couldnt really put it to use in the technical terrain. Right shoe totally fell apart by the end of the race...

...Since my Integraters were destroyed after the middle I had to run back to the campsite to get my backup pair of shoes. Unfortunately I'd only remembered to do this with 30min to my start, so I had to rush over. On my way I rolled my ankle on a rock. At the time I hoped it was one of those ones that you can just run off, but it was worse than that.

Got back to the start, and decided I'd give myself a chance in the hope that adrenaline or the advil would kick in and I could run normally. But that wasnt really the case. Was hobbling right off the start, and limped my way around the whole course, constantly feeling the ankle with every pronation on a rock. My left leg got quite the workout.

Was frustrating since I felt like I had so much in me and I just couldnt move any faster. Was running so slow that the navigation was easy, although made a mistake at the end by not looking at the map and thinking that everyone had to go around the far end of the fence.

Was up late last night so wasn't able to get up early enough this morning to go for my run. Jammed in the two sessions back to back, which wasn't ideal...

Intensity this morning, so just took it really easy tonight. Stefan set really good courses though in the tricky path network area, so I had to be careful regardless of slow pace.

Easy evening run. Need new road shoes, can feel that these are deteriorating and are causing random pains.

EUGHSADFaskdjf. Want to forget about this one quickly.

Wasn't awake at all today. Maybe my Gat nav. skillzz got messed up after the easier terrain at West Point. Was focusing way too much on getting through the woods and not reading my map or compass at all. Made a big and stupid 5min mistake on control 3, which was an easy ctrl. 10min in total probably.

My two main mistakes today came from leaving controls in a non exact direction heading towards a) a large trail and then b) a stream crossing. When I got to the trail I wasn't exactly sure where I was (left or right of the line) and I assumed I could keep going and recover off a feature in the woods. The visibility is not good though and I wasn't able to identify anything significant and floundered around for a while. In the case of the stream I headed way off to the right out of the control without knowing it, and then had to go all the way back to the left.

Interestingly I can think of two similar mistakes to this that I made last weekend. I need to keep in mind to leave the control checking the compass better or to aim off, and that proper direction is more important than fast flow through a control.

Two other mistakes today came from attacking the control. Also made some mistakes like this last weekend and well, probably in most races in the past. Maybe my 'not choosing attackpoints habit' is catching up with me, or i'm just not being careful enough.

On a positive note, my speed felt good, and was running fast on the easy legs and up the hills. Oh but my right shoe is falling a part, and my left foot (ball) hurts now, roflcopterzz...
