Trail Running race 10:21:00 [4] 50.0 mi (12:25 / mi)

I loved it... Cool wet and muddy worked for me. I felt great for the entire race especially the last 3 miles when my legs felt fresh and I rocked my way to my finish line dance and then an evening of drinking my weight in craft beer with BARF's Glenn B oldest finisher in all three distances! (and competitive shopper wife Ann), Elizabeth, Nick, Ben and Wendy, who all stood in the rain for hours to watch me finish. Awesome! Walked all hills (thankfully taught to me by Bash!) and some flats that were so muddy you could not move or see your feet, especially coming back (out and back course) with almost 200 runners in 50k and 30k making mud behind the 50 milers. Lots of dropouts and cutoffs in 50 mile (25%) Ended up running last 3 hours with hardcore 100 miler chick who ended up first female, I did not want to be chicked so I pulled away near the end and beat her by a minute (I'm so mean). We pushed each other and it was great to have company. Great course and wonderful volunteers, that I kept happy in the rain by asking directions to the beer tent each time and cracking jokes. No GPS and put my watch away at 6 hrs. Ran on gels cliff bars and fresh bottles water/eload at the drop spot which I passed twice. Ate cookies and brownies at aid station,
although they had the biggest selection I've seen of food, and one boiled potato with salt to feel like a 100 miler... Legs felt great post race except in the cold walking to the car when everything stopped working and I could not stop shaking. Fine in the heat. My legs have never felt better after any race and felt 100 times worse after each of my 11 road marathons. I think the walking and soft ground on the downhills which I flew at 1/3 Bent speed saved my legs. I made sure to enjoy the scenery which was gorgeous, lots of long uphills. Next race: Decided running an 8k loop at Dirty Girls is not for me. That's Zombie running and not my style anymore. Will find something more interesting. All in all great weekend.

Trail Running 1:30:00 [3]

Easy blast around Haffy side trails, power walking the hills pre Saturday 50 miler. Warm and gorgeous. Still had trouble staying on trails as wanted to explore each knoll or deer track. Ready as I'll ever be for my race, least amount of training I've ever done. Planning to enjoy the scenery and have fun for 50 miles, not concerned about time or position these days, just to dance at the finish and then enjoy a few wee hoppy beverages to celebrate with my Barf pals.

Hiking 3:00:00 [2]

Great hike and light run with foraging with my son around south Glen Haffy and neighbours adjoining properties. Good fun exploring together.
