Friday May 23

Cycling 1:00:00 [3] 18 km (3:20 / km)
ride up past burbage bridge to the nearest part of stannage where I met Hilary, Phil and Kim (no not that Kim!) for a couple of hours of bouldering. Afterwards rode back home. Glad i went on the bike as the other three who all live in Hathersage came in separate cars!

Tuesday May 20

Running (jog) 35:00 [2] 6 km (5:50 / km)
shoes: adidas adistar control
easy jog with Shep and OJ along white edge to the trig and then down to Froggat edge and back to the Grouse. Probably about 20 minutes of walking along with some sightseeing along Froggat edge.

Coughed up about a litre of junk - thats got to be good for me!

Wednesday May 14

Running warm up/down 20:00 [2] 4 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: montrail phoenix
Warmed up by running down to Ecclesall Woods from our place. Ran in to MikeS as he was doing his warm-up and ran the last couple of hundred metres with him.
Orienteering (Ecclesall Woods) 40:00 [3] 5 km (8:00 / km)
shoes: montrail phoenix
Felt a bit tired after the fell race last night but managed at least a bit of tempo around the course. Really enjoyed the run through the woods until I ran past a holly bush and forgot to blink and copped a holly leaf in the eye. Continued on but my vision through my left eye was (and still is) pretty blurry so my depth perception was pretty shot. Decided to pull out before the last loop since I was having a lot of trouble running through the terrain.

Tuesday May 13

Running (lunchtime run) 36:38 [3] 8 km (4:35 / km)
shoes: adidas goretex
Lunchtime run with Steve, actually felt comfortable.... must be starting to get in better shape!
Running race (Burbage Skyline) 44:30 [4] 5.75 mi (7:45 / mi) +320m 4:06 / km
shoes: montrail phoenix
Cracker race, shame I was such a pussy on the steep downhills. Perfectly happy on really technical rocky flat and slightly downhill paths but as soon as it gets steep downhill my knees are no good. Oh well, bit of s & c would probably help.

Was gradually pulling in Shane Ohly throughout the course (apart from the steep dowhills when he pulled away almost out of sight) and almost got to him in the sprint to the line but ran out of finish chute.
Running warm up/down 15:00 [1] 2 km (7:30 / km)
shoes: montrail phoenix
Easy jog down to the start and a bit of a jog around, walk/jog after the finish to see how Kelly was going and then back up to the car.

Monday May 12

Running warm up/down 35:00 [2] 7 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: nike zoom elite 3
Jog to S10 for drills and sprints and then run back to Somerfields to do some shopping for dinner. Felt pretty good today, Middleditch better look out tomorrow if he runs the Burbage Skyline!
Running (sprints and drills) 40:00 [1] 1 km (40:00 / km)
shoes: adidas Neptune XS (spikes)
Sprints and Drills session with kelly, kathy and dave. Felt better this week then last, finished off with 4 uphill sprints - dave was flying can't wait to see what he does for 800!

Sunday May 11

Running long 1:20:00 [3] 16 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: adidas adistar control
Ran down to Hunters Bar to meet Craney and then up Porter valley to Ringinglow, down Limb Valley, around Ecclesall woods and then back home. Gave Craney a lift home so he didn't get too tired before his first day at work tomorrow.

Saturday May 10

Note
(rest day)
Caught early train to tamworth and then got picked up by paul furness in his Audi TT to go to the junior selection meeting. After a few hours discussion and a lovely lunch out on liz and paul's lawn, james williams dropped me back at meadowhall on his way home and I caught the train to sheffield then caught a bus home and then drove out to Castleton to pick up Kelly and Kim who had been running and drinking their way around the peak district along with Ricky, Charlie Adams and a host of others. Got home picked up some snags and steak then took off for Nails birthday party and then headed out to the pub. Busy day but no training.

Friday May 9

Running (peaks run) 50:00 [2] 9 km (5:33 / km)
shoes: adidas adistar control
Run with Kel from the same place I parked with Kim and Ricky but this time after a short way along white edge we turned down and ran past the Grouse Inn down padley gorge and then around longshaw estate. Another great evening in the peaks.

Thursday May 8

Running (peaks run) 1:10:00 [2] 12 km (5:50 / km)
Easy run in the peaks with Kim and Ricky, along white edge and then down to Froggatt edge and back up to where we parked. What a great evening!

Wednesday May 7

Orienteering race (Greno Spring Cup) 37:00 [4] 4.7 km (7:52 / km)
shoes: montrail phoenix
Taking a moral victory today as everybody else had run here about 50 times before and I did it without a compass.

Lost time on the shortest leg on the course and by choosing to run through the middle of as many thickets as possible on the long uphill leg.

Tuesday May 6

Cycling (cafe ride) 1:05:00 [3] 25 km (2:36 / km)
Rode down to Hathersage, had a coffee and muffin, then rode home. What a great day to be out.
C • Biking 2
Note
Feeling a bit tired and had a bit of a sore throat so decided to rest instead of going to track.
