Running long (Crookes-Hathersage) 1:50:00 [3] 18.09 km (6:05 / km) +440m 5:25 / km
ahr:156 max:190 shoes: adidas adistar control
On my tod from home down past the cemetary and stables to Rivelin, along Rivelin past the water works, along rivelin reservoir to the Headstone, cut up to the conduit and out to the reservoir then bashed my way through the bracken up to Oaking Clough plantation and up to High Neb before running down past Green's House to Hathersage. Had a plate of chips with sausage and fired egg from outside cafe for lunch - yum!

Bouldering (The Works) 1:30:00 [0]
With Neil, due to the wet weather outside the works was rammed with buff climber types doing impossible problems who made us feel pretty pathetic. Still we polished off some tricky problems that Oli will struggle with when he finally comes along.

Saturday Aug 30

Running race (longshaw fell race) 46:30 [5] 6.0 mi (7:45 / mi) +350m 4:05 / km
shoes: montrail phoenix
OJ continued his fine tradition of getting lost during fell races and this time dragged the rest of us off course with him. Was amongst a group of Dark Peakers who were the first to realise it so hot footed it across the heather back to the right track. Was then close to the lead but had spent a few too many biccies racing across the heather and struggled the rest of the way up to burbage bridge. Got moving a bit better down the valley and up the plummet but then struggled with my ankle on the downhill and got passed by a few including MikeS. Kept in touch but was too soft to make a race of it up the final hill.
Running warm up/down (longshaw) 25:00 [2] 4 km (6:15 / km)
shoes: montrail phoenix
warm up with kel and jenny and then cool down with mike, oli, craney and grace. Oli was in a boo.

Friday Aug 29

Running (Rivelin Run) 36:00 [2] 6 km (6:00 / km) +160m 5:18 / km
shoes: nike zoom elite 3
Nice loosener down past the stables to Rivelin then down the river towards Hillsborough then back home up the hill.

Thursday Aug 28

Bouldering (Burbage South Boulders) 1:30:00 [0]
Went out with Kel, looked like rain but it held off and was nice and cool for climbing. Knocked off lots of new problems and looking forward to heading back!

Running (Porter Brook Run) 1:00:00 [2] 10 km (6:00 / km) +190m 5:29 / km
shoes: adidas adistar control
Broomhill, Endcliffe Park, Kim and Rich's then with Rich up along Porter Brook to the Dam and then back home through Fulwood, Carsick, Crosspool.

Felt good for the first 10 minutes bu then got to the end of the downhill and felt pretty flat. Still on to a bit of a roll now with some good training so want to keep it going.

Running race (Eyam Fell Race) 45:26 [5] 6.0 mi (7:33 / mi) +305m 4:04 / km
shoes: montrail phoenix
Eyam fell race, really tough course especially with a strong head wind on most of he flatter sections. Steve won it in a new record, Oli was 4th, Bryn was 6-7th? I was 13th, and Kelly, Jenny and Grace were 1st, 2nd and 3rd ladies.

Bad case of runners guts after the race...
C • Kelly 4
Running warm up/down (Eyam) 30:00 [2] 5 km (6:00 / km) +150m 5:13 / km
shoes: montrail phoenix
Bit of a jog around before the race and then a longer cool-down with Steve and Bryn after the race.

Monday Aug 25

Sunday Aug 24

Note
(rest day)
Travelling home from Italy, had a great week in Italy always enjoy spending time in the Dolomites. Can't really be bothered putting all the training in attackpoint, but I ran twice a day every day except Wednesday when I did a 3000m time trial and then walked up a mountain. Made it through the week pretty well, hopefully a good kickstart back in to some good regular training.

Saturday Aug 23

Orienteering 1:15:50 ***** 8 km (9:29 / km)
shoes: adidas adistar control
In the morning put out controls then ran two courses through the great complex rock detail, I was rubbish on the first loop but much better the second time, really fun session.

In the afternoon we had some Palmer challenges in the middle of a storm, ran out to the start, ran out to check on a possible misplaced control and then ran around a bt more when I started to get really cold.

Friday Aug 22

Orienteering (Italia training) 1:35:00 12 km (7:55 / km)
shoes: adidas goretex
Long legs in the morning, ran around collecting the EMIT units behind Anne who was moving, and orienteering, really well.

In the afternoon hung the controls for the middle distance qualifying race around Passo Cereda, was under pressure to stay ahead of the early starters and in the end was caught by speedy welshman Kris Jones at the last control.

Running to the starts etc.

Thursday Aug 21

Orienteering (Sprint day) 54:00 9 km (6:00 / km)
shoes: adidas goretex
Sprint Day! Line course around Tonadico which I stuffed at the second turning then started thinking again. Shadowed Ali then around the Sprint course, he was moving well but not quite looking far enough ahead and got caught out a couple of times.

In the afternoon hung the first sprint race and then raced the second, Oli and Pete got me by about 15 secs but I took out Ewan and the rest. Really fun running through Siror.

Wednesday Aug 20

Running race (time trial) 10:19 [5] 3 km (3:26 / km) vdot: 56.8

nasty, faster than last year, thats about all I can say about it that is positive.
Running warm up/down (for time trial) 30:00 [3] 4 km (7:30 / km)

Running long (hangover cure) 1:17:45 [2] 13 km (5:59 / km) +550m 4:56 / km
shoes: adidas adistar control
With Dave and Pete, from Lodge Moor past Redmires up, down and along Stanage and back past Stanage pole. Dodgy stomach, dragging the chain again but good to get around.
Note
Happy Birthday Jenny!
Bouldering (Climbing Works) 1:00:00 [0]
With Nails at the works, some blacks, blues and yellow and purple spots. Much better than Friday but got tired pretty quickly

Saturday Aug 9

Running long (Kinder Groughs) 1:26:44 [3] 13.5 km (6:25 / km) +500m 5:25 / km
shoes: adidas goretex
From Edale up to Kinder and then across the top three times with Nails, Bryn, Camel and Shane. I was dragging the chain for most of the run, ankle was still pretty ordinary and tape got looser and looser as the run wore on. Ran like a granny after a hip replacement downhill...

Friday Aug 8

Bouldering (Climbing Works) 1:00:00 [0]
Back to the climbing works for the first time in a long time. All new problems from when i was last there, did all the greens and a few blues. Got tired pretty quickly.

Thursday Aug 7

Note
(injured) (rest day)
Foot pretty sore today so took some anti-inflams and rubbed on some ibuleve, hopefully be okay for Kinder on Saturday.

Wednesday Aug 6

Bouldering (Stanage Boulders) 1:00:00 [0]
Went out to Stanage with Nails, Hilary, Kim, Rich, Jenny and Kel. The usual traverses and a few new routes, made progress on a couple but still some work to do. Hurt my foot a bit when i landed funny on the mat with a rock underneath.

Monday Aug 4

Running race (Trunce) 27:36 [4] 4.25 mi (6:29 / mi) +165m 3:36 / km
shoes: montrail phoenix
Went out to the Trunce, started easy and then gradually increased the effort through the race. Felt pretty good except for a sore calf muscle, surprisingly ended up in 11th in a new pb (and even better I beat Kelly's pb - woohoo). Will miss the next one when i am in Italy which is a shame because I feel like I could go quite a bit quicker.
C • ..... 1
Running warm up/down 10:00 [1] 1 km (10:00 / km)
shoes: montrail phoenix
jogged a couple of laps before the trunce and walked up the hill to see Kel finish. Ten minutes is probably stretching it...

Sunday Aug 3

Running (Blencathra) 1:36:00 [3] 15 km (6:24 / km) +960m 4:51 / km
shoes: adidas adistar control
From near Scales Farm up to Scales Tarn and then up Sharp Edge (the scramble took about 30 minutes but didn't include it in the run time) went back down via Bannerdale and particularly enjoyed running down Scales Fell when I lost grip on the short wet grass and ended up sliding 50m down the hill on my arse. Back to the Baxter's for an amazing lunch then headed home via IKEA for some household essentials for our new place. With Rich, Kim and Kel.

Saturday Aug 2

Running hills (Borrowdale Spectating) 1:30:00 [1] 14 km (6:26 / km) +850m 4:56 / km
shoes: adidas goretex
Ran from Honister Pass up to Green Gable then Great Gable and back. Lots of stops and waiting for first runners to come through in the Borrowdale Fell Race. Lots of mist a bit of rain and then occasional glimpses of amazing scenery when it momentarily cleared. Ran with Kim, Rich and Kel. On the way back stopped off to see the church and youth hostel where Kim and Rich are getting married, both have received the Candy tick of approval. Had a feast at Rich's parents for dinner, thanks Joan!
