| Long ride, interrupted.
Started off at 9:45, figuring on taking a bit less than 4 hours. Two 25oz water bottles and an energy bar were on board to prevent any problems like last week. First bottle was half pineapple juice and water, second, full strength Performance (aka Ethanol). Was feeling really good the first hour, and in fact had gone about 17+ miles at that point. Second hour OK as I transitioned onto the 62 mile marked route, which I had never ridden before. Lots of nice fast roads and a cool old car sighting. 1966 Plymouth Valiant convertable. Nice condition,,,and $6995! WOW, my '66 Dodge Dart GT was $2300 new. Shortly thereafter I lost the road markings and while contemplating at a four way intersection, a nice lady asked."Where are you going" "Not sure, just following some road markings" "Do you know where you are?" "No" "Well, ashland is that way, Holliston that way, Hopkintown down there" "Thanks" Oh well, when in doubt, go straight. And so I ended up in Framingham. Then the runmbling came, and the lightening closer, and it was definately raining harder, and harder...time to duck under cover.....onto the porch of a Framingham Housing Authority building. Met a fellow there who told me about his son who was a bike courier in Boston, and now was helping the DCR build bike trails in Lynn Woods. A cab driver gave me some hard to follow directions toward Sherburne, a postman gave me more, and shortly I was back on the "route". Was getting late by this time so I left off the loop to Medfield and went straight home, arriving just before the next front swept through Dedham. Feeling pretty good on the bike for the upcoming "CLimb to the Clouds"

My usual wandering and bashing through the laurel. Times estimated, can't find my splits. Nice club meeting. Great food and company, and a nice short meeting run by George. Spectacular fireworks by Mother Nature took out the power...and the back up generator. Charlie got the gas grilles going, and all was well.
