A whole better run todaqy, and a bit of luck helped. 1 was technically difficult, I was careful staying along the hillside, steady on compass and waiting for the hill to drop, then stopping about the right spot.....heard a beep to my left, and I was standing next to the cliff as someone punched in! 2 was justa matter of getting down the hillside quickly, 3 had 3 or 4 route choices, I was looking for the trail across the swamp, but hedging my route by going up the hill aways, it looked a bit thick and I went up the hill, trail tot he stone wall then an easy compass to the correct hill. 4 was a very careful compass route, looking for the rocky stuff just before the control, i saw it to my right, then a bit further I spotter the control to my right. was not done well, i bit hesitent down the hill, and I found myself on the trail, which i did not notice until I was jogging along it, fortunately there was the big boulder on my left, so up the hill....straight compass to six, then over the hill to the big trail behind Vadim M and Tom H.,
Tom went off at the stream I think, I was looking for that but ran by it, and further down the hill looking for the cliff to the right, not seeing it, so took a cahnce and went in directly west, noted i was crossing the thick green spur, and came out seeing gthe re entrantright across. Straightish to 8, spotte the nose from below, but saw Tony F and thought he was at the control, went up and realized the knoll I had seen was what I was looking for...lost about 30 seconds there....west trail to 9, went in just as Eric K. came from the bigger trail, ducking and walking out to the trail to 10, just trying to run as fast as possible as these should be easy controls.....interestingly Tim P was a bit behind me as we entered this area, but he ran faster than me through these controls and got me by 17 seconds.....
A good run, number five is where I lost the most time, probably because I didn't see the trail on map intially.

Going on the line to 1, but was unsure of exact location at the stream, looking for mapped boulder or cliff, assuming I was at the streams junction, went in but apparently too far right, turned back and found the dot knoll, straight in from there
2- took the uphill trail, then down along the cliffs, others were just ahead. I went up as I saw the land flatten to the left, then hit the green patch and knew where I was. The small trail to the left I think was best, but I was too narrowly focused, even the trail way right was a good choice I think.
Hit 3 well on compass, across the swamp to 4 I aimed off right, then turned left along the hill. Navigated fine to 5, but then misread the clue as between the boulders, it was middle boulder, so I spent a minute wondering why it wasn't right there between the boulders, circled around, and there it was!, then 6, which in my opinion is a sketchy mapped area. off hte big swamp to the NW, up the hill, and no reentrant was evident to me, just followed back along the swamp until a line of competitors lead me to the control. Trails to below 7, Steve Tarry nearby, then back down the hill behind Tom Hallowell, I cut the corner a littel to see if I could catch him, but gained nothing.
Not a good race, 1 medium error and several smaller ones.
