saturday run from ian and julz' place (is that how one would spell the possesive form of the name julz?). not to pumped for a run after a late night but figured i should go seeing as the start was just round the corner. turned into an alright run. fortunatlely everyone was feeling off their game or i would have been destroyed. through chapel hill, up cootha then down frosty's (at least i think it was frosty's). maxed out the hr at 183 at the top of honeyeater track. new PB.

for those of you playing at home, the cops were absolutely nuts and expat were better (but i only knew one of their songs so it kinda brought it down a bit). shame, shame, shame to those silly people who would prefer to run around in the bush. you know who you are...

gap creek with matt, olly and bridgey. tracks were a bit wet but it just made them more grippy until you hit them to fast and they got slippery. massive stack in the handicap race down lantana meaning i lost. good times :)

arvo ride into the city. weather was so good i couldnt sit round all day watching scrubs (although it was tempting). through anzac pk, toowong, southbank and the botanic gardens and then home via bikeway. very unfit at the moment.

in the mood for a run when i got home from uni so knocked otu a reasonably cruisy arvo run. anzac pk, sylvan rd, coro drv tunnel, moggil rd loop. absolutely killer headwind for the last 3.5km. new shoes are sweet.

massive craving for icecream when i got home so went for a "warm down" to indro. running is choc-tastically tasty :)

morning run from brigdy's place
wanted to go for a run but wasnt sure how the body would hold up. turned out reasonably ok. had to do alot of gritting of the teeth when i breathed to deeply or moved the torso the wrong way. made hills a bit hard. julz said it could be a strained muscle between the ribs which sounds about right for how it feels.

took the shortcut solo and did quite a bit of walking but i gotta start somewhere i suppose. feels like it might be about time to start thinking about running slightly more often than once a month. not training though, just running....

still got this crazy bad pain in my chest. its kinda like ive had a stitch since lunchtime monday. kinda. any pressure in the wrong area makes it hurt which has made sleeping a bit hard. gunna try for a run in the morning but not making any promises as to length or intensity.

finally got my bike working again so went for a spin around gap creek. in hindsight, the middle of the day wasnt the most comfortable time of day to be riding (it was frickin' hot) but i dont think i could have waited til this arvo or saturday morning (i was jumping out of my skin in anticipation
). legs felt like jelly going up the hills (you think you are at the top but they just keep going...) but i had a good time coming down :) no stacks today :)

started developing this really bad pain in my chest yesterday (on the left side, kinda between the nipple and collarbone but inside the chest). it hurt to breathe out too far. maybe i sprained a lung...

didnt do anything today. 2 assignments due and ~14hours at uni made sure of that. bike still broken :(

a light run to begin the long process of getting the legs working again that became more of a CBF run than anything. just round indro so no where exciting. i found a whole heap of we concrete about 5 minutes in and couldnt resist the temptation of writing in it. im so mature....

mountain bike 30:00 [2]

i was really in the mood for some off road riding this arvo. unfortunately when i went downstairs to get my bike i discovered my back tire had no air in it. i mustve got a very slow leak in the closing stages of the mtbo (or maybe the hole was sealed with mud). decided my desire to ride out weighed my respect for pesonal safety so took out my old bike.

now anyone who has seen this bike will realise what im talking about when i say this bike is in need of some serious mechanical work. its a 16" bike with the seat jacked right up to give better leg extension (i can get my knee to ~90 degrees!!!). the downside of this is that you need to stand up alot which lead to my next problem...knees hitting the handle bars. add to that only the granny gear wheel working and having the braking force of a 94 year old lady with arthritis squeezing my on my back rims. if i want to use the front brakes i need to connect the cable to the calliper thingys whilst in motion other wise the front wheel doesn't turn (i hit a tree with it in my younger days and theyve never worked since). plus the rear brake cable is seriously frayed so the wire cuts the calf muscle every now and then. i either need to get this bike fixed or find a massive jump or jetty to launch it off and put it out of its misery :)

all things considered it was a decent ride through anzac pk but it was just enough to satisfy my desire to ride off road for a few days till i get my tyre fixed.

qld mtbo long champs @ beerburrum
pretty good fun again today but not quite as intense as yesterday. still got covered in mud though. some tracks were nice and dry and fast while others were under about a foot of water and the rest were covered in sticky, slippery mud and seemingly bottomless puddles (not quite bottomless but close). navigation was reasonably good apart from a few wrong turns and a couple of poor route choices. legs held up well but my back (lower lumbar area?) was a bit sore/quite painful at times early in the race.

destroyed olly once again. he had some pathetic excuse about his chain breaking. you dont need a chain to ride a bike....

p.s. matt destroyed us both :( hes hardcore

qld mtbo sprint champs @ beerburrum.
about a week ago the sunny coast got massive amounts of rain (i heard a rumour of ~750mm in 24 hours but i could be wrong) and alot of that water was still lying on the tracks out past beerburrum. so that made for a rather enjoyable afternoon ride for those of us that enjoy riding through (or at least attempting to ride through) copious amounts of mud. of course me being so mature and dignified and a clean freak i absolutely hated it....

oh yea the course was good too. absolutely destroyed olly. do you see what you get when you challenge a warrior!!!!!!
