Orienteering race 48:01 [3] 6.9 km (6:58 / km) +120m 6:24 / km
ahr:158 rhr:49 shoes: Nike Total 90 III
state event @ woodlands
really uninspiring terrain (flat, featureless and open or flat, featureless and covered in lantana). cruised round the red 2. couldnt make myself take it seriously enough to really focus. still won by 10 mins or so. absolutley dominated the oldies!!! yipee....
C • old??? 1
mountain bike 50:00 [4] 22 km (2:16 / km)
ahr:147 max:165 shoes: volleys
arvo ride into the city botanic gardens via bikeway, toowong, coro drv and north quay. felt like i was pushing a little harder than normal even though legs are still feeling a bit heavy from the camp.

saw a kid crash his bike into a fence. funny stuff. he got up and laughed it off so its all good.
Note
i reckon if i get told congratulations/commiserations/peoples opinions about jwoc selection/at least you have got next year many more times im gunna go crazy!! the tally from the event today was ~9 people. and i wasnt even there for that long. total tally is well over 30 by now i reckon. thats my whinge for the week. the end.

Saturday May 26

Running 45:00 [2] 8 km (5:38 / km) +420m 4:27 / km
ahr:153 max:177 rhr:50 slept:13.0 shoes: asics gel GT-2120
slept through 3 alarms so missed the saturday group run. went out at about 9.30am for a solo longish run. small problem was that my calves were insanely tight. made running uphill very painful, which is bad coz this run is steep. kept stopping for a stretch and threw in quite a bit of walking (especially up the back of mt cootha). nice run other than that.

Friday May 25

Note
slept:6.0 (rest day)
gunna give the body a rest today before starting the next lot of training coz its gunna be tough!!

got home @ 10.30 last night and managed to spend maybe an hour studying between then and my midday exam. it was a case of being too tired to concentrate and too dosed up on coffee to sleep. grrr

Thursday May 24

Running 25:00 [2] 4 km (6:15 / km)
shoes: asics gel GT-2120
very early morning run around the lake on my own. would have to go on the list as one of the best i reckon. running in my flanno through the frost covered grass looking over the misty lake as the sun was rising over the hills in the background. absolutely phenomenal!!! only problem was i couldnt feel my face & fingers it was that cold. across the wall afterwards for a bit of extra distance and scenery.
Orienteering 17:36 [4] 3.6 km (4:53 / km)
ahr:166 shoes: asics gel GT-2120
sprint training @ some looney asylum/golf course
really hard to get the legs moving after the big day yesterday plus the fact that jared (is that how you spell it?) absolutely annhialated my back yesterday during the massage. fairly slow but steady with no real problems apart from getting caught in blackberry bushes and verbally distracted by crazies. still couldnt get simon even with a 100 second handicap (although technically we all beat him coz he mis-punched)
C • Simon 2

Wednesday May 23

Running 17:16 [2] 3 km (5:45 / km)
shoes: asics gel GT-2120
morning recovery run around the lake on my own. wanted to get some psychological stuff sorted out. worked well.
Running 15:00 [2] 3 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: asics gel GT-2120
another lap of the lake straight after with the rest of the team. short gap in between waiting for everyone to get moving.
Orienteering 1:20:43 [4] 10.7 km (7:33 / km)
ahr:164 shoes: Nike Total 90 III
classic training @ gumble creek
really enjoyed running today which i wasnt expecting so soon after the trials. took it slow and steady and put in a reasonably good time (2nd behind simon). actually starting to begin to want to orienteer competitivley again.

i found the talk from hanny in the arvo really good. i reckon it would have done me so much better though if i got it before the trails. such is life i suppose.
Running warm up/down 15:00 [2]

Tuesday May 22

Orienteering 45:00 [4] 5.7 km (7:54 / km)
shoes: Nike Total 90 III
middle distance training @ gumble pinnacles
really hard to get excited about training hard for jwoc. lost all 4 head to head races and managed to get completely lost on the last one (most of the girls beat me...). beat simon to the start triangle though (not once but twice thankyou very much). take that....
Running warm up/down 40:00 [3]
shoes: Nike Total 90 III
warm up + warm down + recoveries between reps + a little mapping exercise before hand

Monday May 21

Running 17:00 [2] 3 km (5:40 / km)
shoes: asics gel GT-2120
morning recovery run around lake canobolas with the team.
Note
(rest day)
really bad mood today (any guesses as to why?)

rest day at canobolas with a trip to dubbo. nothing more strenuous than sitting in a bus and a few games of stomp.
