| Logging these events is another reason why AP is so good. It makes/lets you look back on the races and see what went wrong, what you did right etc etc. I mean i can say that i was probably running the best i have this year but my navigation was probably the worst and look to the why and how of it. Bloody shame though i left my maps on the plane!! |

 | Orienteering race (Third Test Natch, Long) 1:37:56 [5] **** | |
| shoes: VJ Falcon |
| Well what a tough bastard of a race. It wasn't the best start when i was vomiting before the start then a few hundred metres from the start i tripped and simultaneously spewed mid air. Luckily i didn't land in it. I haven't been as lost as i was at the first control in a long time, i was last at that stage. The first few controls were a bit of a haze. I got my act together a bit of the way through the first long leg and started running better. Although i was pretty buggared i never felt really exhausted or weak which was good. Even after going over all those steep ridges. Caught Prong at control 20 and we ran the last loop together which was good to push me for the last loop. |

 | Orienteering race (Second Test Match, Middle) 19:29 [5] *** | |
| shoes: VJ Falcon |
| Well what i can i say? I killed the women's course. I took the wrong map at the start, i was standing in front of the women's box. The first control was the same and then i got to the second, which i had spiked, and the numbers were different. I relocated three times back to the same control and finally checked the description on map and the number was right! i figured they had fucked up the descriptions! I kept going, pushed hard and was very happy with my run. I got to the finish and was complaining they fucked up then realised i did! Fuck! If i take off the minute i took at the second im on 18.30. That km rate gives me 25 for the men's course, 3rd place! But anything could have happened really, and the start of the women's course was ridiculously easy, virtually green standard. |
 | Orienteering race (Re-run Test Match Course) 28:47 [5] *** | |
| shoes: VJ Falcon |
| I went out on the Men's course about 35mins after i finished to see if i could salvage some kind of result. Apart from the first leg and a couple at the end, the courses weren't that similar. My legs were failt heavy and the lower back was pretty sore but i still felt i was running ok.
I made a couple of errors, one where i was looking for the wrong feature and another in the thick, small pine forest regrowth. This one was frustrating as i'd spiked all the women's legs through the difficult stuff.
So my second run wasn't as good as first, physically or navigationally, the time would have put me in 9th, equal with Bruce. It wasn't counted though, fair enough. |

| Event: Aus V NZ Test Matches |
 | Orienteering race (Auckland Middle Distance) 35:22 [4] *** | |
| shoes: VJ Falcon |
| This race wasn't a Test Match (even though it says so on the OA website) so i just took it fairly easy and concentrated on navigation. The terrain was shithouse-steep, sloppy farm land hills with creeks filled with shit NZ forest and fuckloads of mud. Fairly happy with how the run went and i thought i achieved what i wanted. |

 | Orienteering race (First Test Match, Sprint) 19:29 [5] *** | |
| shoes: Brooks T3 Racers |
| The First Test Match was at a Uni campus in Albany, north of Auckland. Fucked the 11th control which cost me 25sec and any chance of a good result. Didn't read the map properly and didn't realise i couldn't through at a certain point on a path. Still feeling good when running so thats one positive i took away. My Shins had been tight still with a hint they were loosening up. 9th |

| 3rd. Had a fairly good race, lost time at the second, like a few people, where the mapping was a bit dodgy. A couple of small route choice errors but they didn't cost me a lot of time. Physically very happy with the way i felt and very fast in new racing flats! |
