| Started out in fucking hot weather, at least 35'C i reckon. Ran with Robbie and Damon for first 2 1/2 hrs or so then Prong and i went a different route. Was feeling quite good up until bout 5 hrs when i hit the wall, it was compounded by a mistake we mde sending us up a real steep fucker of a hill. Had a bit of food and kept going. Stopped again after 6hrs at a water drop and got a good amount of food into me which picked me up really well and we set off as darkness descended. We also got out the ipod and speakers at this point which really helped pick me up. Couple of easy controls before we went for one up a creek and lost bout 1/2hr when we missed the turn off. Got to the control eventually and saw rob and damo again which was good. Stayed with those for rest of the course.
Lost heaps of time when we went over a big fuck off hill and got lost down the other side. Our compasses were playing up alot and we figure there must be magnetic rock out there. I've never been so lost in my life, we have no idea where we went! eventually we came back to a point where we knew where we were and recovered to finally get the control. Rob was doing all the navigating by this point and getting slightly frustrated by the little help he was getting - by that stage the only thing i was doing was being the music mule. Lost some more time the control after the next and then turned for home. Rob and Damo got more controls on the way while Prong and i simply could not be fucked. We didnt event leave the track 200m or so for 40 easy points on two occasions. The final straw was when at the hash house the catering advertised 'lamb korma' and 'Beef and Red Wine', they in fact turned out to be two lots of mince sitting in a pool of water/oil, one with curry powder added and the other with goon added. Bed was good tho! Knee was consistently sore but kept under control with good amount of Voltaren and Nurofen. Best Story from the w/e: Chris Forne wanted o take long pants to run in at night but didn't want to carry his shorts when he took them off. Solution: Run the first 5 1/2hrs in his Y-fronts. Classic. Well Done to Rob and Damo! | ||
