Orienteering (Super Long World Champs) 4:10:00 [3] 36.0 km (6:57 / km) +583m 6:25 / km
shoes: Nike LunarGlide

Great turn out in Roseville for the third edition of the most anticipated orienteering event of the year.

Was always gonna start slow and the first one had a bit of an overgrown track and a few of us took a while to finish

Second one from the weir was quick from the start (which is against the SLWC by-laws) and i was never in it, just rolling along the back.

After a bit of a whinge i tried to get the gentlemen's agreement working, these youngsters need to learn a thing or too! SLow jog along the golf course for the start of the third then got in just behind the lead group along the single track. Thought about having a crack but the pace was ramping up pretty quickly and i pulled back just before the action started.

Post maccas (hot cakes & frozen coke) the slow jog was enforced until the final five controls and i had a shot, was just of fat rat's shoulder coming out of the final bush for the sprint but face planted and lost the chance. that was the closest i got, a 4th!

The rest were simply me staying the back pack trying not to finish to far behind. Had to stop at Crows Nest shops for some band aids to stop the captain giving me bleeding nipples!

While it felt easier to finish then last year i definitely had no 4th or fifth gear to get a sprint in. Cracker effort from all the boys to finish, especially Matt Hill who smashed his previous longest run!

Morning Majura Meander with Seb, Beth and Steve.

Half asleep from home to Majura then most of the MTB but felt lot stronger for the second half. Good to get in the morning. Majura is ok but not great at the moment.

Then into city to get car from Mich and have a coffee at what i think is called Group Seven? or that may be the coffee they use. Good nonetheless

Running warm up/down 10:00 [3]
shoes: Inov8 X Talon 212

5 PM

Orienteering (Aranda Hill) 37:56 [3] 5.71 km (6:39 / km) +127m 5:59 / km
shoes: Inov8 X Talon 212

Very blah effort resulting in shit run.

Was off to a bad start with no socks but decided to run anyway. Physically didnt feel too bad just not navigating smoothly and pussy footing in the terrain. No socks came back to haunt and the last third was more a shuffle then anything else. Nice big blister on the right instep and a small one on the left. Hope this does not cause to much trouble at SLWC III

Pretty good class that I hadn't done before. Longer intervals and I was happy with how hard I pushed myself.
