Due to all results being voided in the previous Sprint Ranking event in November, today was the make-up event at the different venue. Timing couldn't be worse for me as I literally just finished my thesis review before rushing my way over to the park. Add to that I haven't had any proper rest or training in the past couple weeks, and I knew my odds for doing well in today's race was not good.
The map printing quality (colour) was pretty terrible, and the control circles were excessively cut, causing problems for me to clearly read the map while on the run. I couldn't see #1 and ran all the way to #2 before realizing and turning around. Navigating through the maze of out-of-bounds areas was a chore and significantly slowed my speed. I also punched an extra control just before #8 on a similar feature, but was saved from DQ as I checked the code. Lost of concentration towards end of the race lead to some questionable route choices and unnecessary hesitations.
Overall, it wasn't a great run, but about on par considering the mental and physical shape coming in to the race.
