HK Annual Middle Distance Championship @Ngong Ping, Sai Kung
ME/MO/M20 Course: 3.2km, 12c, 150m (ISOM 1:10000, 5m, 2015)

Thoroughly disgusting performance. Started off on the right foot right away when my bearing was off to the right to #1. Then took a really bad route to #2. Settled down briefly before another mistake at #6 when I didn't correct my position after going off trail. Another major mistake at #9 searching forever for the control. Running too fast trying to make up for lost time is never a formula for success. Picked up the wrong trail going to #12 and needed a bit of time to figure things out. Then to add insult to injury, I managed to make a wrong turn on the trail to the Finish!
A rather forgettable race. Ngong Ping continues to be my Kryptonite, it's baffling!

Club Fun Relay @HK Science Park
As an attachment to the AsJYOC Sprint Relay, OAHK invited affiliated clubs to join the Club Mixed Sprint Relay race. It's a 4-leg race similar to the WOC sprint relay set up. The organizer even had GPS trackers for all competitors to wear with live tracking, a first of such trials in Hong Kong!
I ran 2nd leg with the HKIOF club. Miky started off for us, passed the spectator control in 5th place but ran strongly afterwards and came in first! I went out with the aim to maintain our position. Things mostly went well until after the spectator, where a lapse in concentration had me reading the wrong code in the description and got me confused for a moment. I then ended with some minor bobbles in the last 2 controls due to not able to read the map ahead and carefully. Still, I managed to hand off to Chung in 1st place.
Iris' HKOXCC team overtook us in the 3rd and 4th legs to finish first, but due to a mispunch on Iris' part, we got to claim the first prize in the end.

(rest day)

Darius from the Canadian team is in HK for the x'mas holiday and WRE races. With an off day today, we took him around to a few places and tried out different foods. It was a bit hazy but fairly nice day otherwise. Caught the sunset while on the Ferris wheel, which was cool.

The Fall term is finally over! Now comes the year-end Championship races which I'm totally unprepared for. Will still try my best but not expecting great results this time around.

21st Kadoorie Brothers Memorial Race
~15c, cloudy w/ light drizzle.

Iris went to an orienteering race, so I did this alone. With the lack of recent training, I treated this more as a training run than a race. Luckily, the field isn't very strong thanks to multiple road races on the same day.
I started off near the front and soon worked my way to 2nd. The leader still was within sight around the half way mark, but he was simply too strong and gradually pulled away, finishing a good 2 minutes in front.
Quite happy with the 2nd place finish, though was bit slower than my time 2 years ago. As usual, the nice trophy is the highlight of the day.
