Note

Woke up at 6 am and proceeded to have a 100% orienteering day without stepping out on a course with a map myself. Hosted the massively successful Mini Barkley, turned into putting on the Public Outreach hat, which bleed into GVOC Board stuff, which became strategic planning... all could not have been accomplished without the awesome partnership of Erica Lay who showed some trail runners what navigating is all about and co-wore all these hats today. By 23:30 I was at least in bed but I am pretty sure I dreamed about all the above.

PS Public outreach was every other second...

Gym Cardio (Code Blue) 1:00:00 [3]

Code Blue - so much strength then dash... I think it will be good for skiing but I suspect my thighs will be sore tomorrow... who came up with wall sits?! (Insert grumpy purple devil emoji)

We had ALL THE BEGINNERS signed up for the WET last night to try-out orienteering in advance of the Mini-Barkley on Sunday. Erica was great and divided all the beginners into groups of 5 and then paired them up with an experienced o-volunteer for instructions and then off they ran!

I was quite enjoying my group and so we opted to run the beginner course together. By the end, we were quite strung out but everyone enjoyed themselves.

Orienteering 16:02 intensity: (16 @0) + (1:03 @1) + (19 @2) + (2:45 @3) + (7:42 @4) + (3:57 @5) ** 1.95 km (8:15 / km) +33m 7:36 / km

Two of the gents from my group were super keen so we ran a chunk of the intermediate course 1-9, 14/19, 20-F. It was quite fun and a little more fast paced though I was certainly helped out speed wise when they made mistakes haha

Note

The second screening of "Where Dreams Go To Die" running the GVOC table with Erica. We got to talk with a fair number of orienteering/mini-Barkley interested people. As well, we got to meet and chat with Lazarus Lake... about maps, navigating, and indoor plumbing :P
