Presi Traverse with Adam G. Perfect day for it, around freezing at the start and when we finished it was about 55 degrees. Slight breeze all day, not a cloud in the sky. Hiked pretty much all of it, not knowing how my hips would take this long day, and also Adam was slightly concerned about his knee.

Steady climb up to Madison Hut on the Valley Way. Left packs at the hut for a quick jaunt up and down Madison. Bunch of people camping up at the hut (it was closed). To Adam's by the way less travelled - Star Lake trail. There had been a bunch of people headed up Gulfside from the hut so we decided to do our own thing. Steady along the ridge, passing a few people, little bit of jogging here and there. Did the detour to Clay, up over Jefferson. Passed a lot of people climbing the rockpile. Got to the top and it was busy, so quickly past the summit, fill up with water, and a quick descent to Lake of the Clouds. Hut was closing down for the winter, so free food box outside - didn't really want mayo, hot sauce, a cucumber or a pack of lemonade mix!

The up to Monroe, after the quick down, felt a little harder, but we were still moving well. Ran a section between Monroe and Eisenhower. A runner passed us between Eisenhower and Pierce - he looked to be moving well. Quick jaunt up to the top of Pierce then the slog home down the Crawford Path ( we had considered adding Jackson, as we were up there, but Adam's knee was starting to get sore and I didn't really feel the need to add another mile and a half).

A great day and, best of all, my hips dont seem to have suffered at all. More hiking ahead!
