Great race and a really nice day for it. Set off steady trying to find a good rhythm for the long climb and after a few minutes was sat in 4th. Lucas came past. Started to go with but the pace felt a wee bit too quick for so early on in the climb so I let him go. Waldie caught up and we were running together for a wee while. Was tucked in behind him and it felt like quite hard work so was expecting to be dropped. Nipped past before the grass section though while he was having a bit of a rough patch and pulled away. Lucas and John in site up ahead on the steeper stuff. Started to work a bit harder when it flattened out and was feeling good. Caught up to Lucas and tried to cruise past looking comfortable so I dropped him. John getting no closer but was moving well on the steeper bit and summit ridge.

Stewart and a cambuslang guy weren't a million miles behind so was worried I'd get caught going down but overall the descent was good. Waldie got ahead on the fast gradual track and got a gap but that was it and always felt like I was going well and a bit more confidently than normal. Knew I had a bit of a gap so eased off a little on some of the trickier bits in the forest to be safe. Realised towards the bottom though I was running out of steam slightly so was a bit slow on the road near the end. Probably could have found another gear in a chase. Happy and great fun
