Expected legs to feel a bit battered after that descent yesterday but feeling fine. Knee a wee bit sore downhill but not too bad.

Hill Running 8:00 [3] 1.1 mi (7:16 / mi) +30m 6:42 / mi
shoes: Inov 8 X-talon 212 #2

Cutting it a bit fine so fairly quick along to registration.

Hill Running race (Ben Venue) 1:26:11 [4] 8.35 mi (10:19 / mi) +860m 7:49 / mi
shoes: Inov 8 X-talon 212 #2

Bit of a spontaneous decision. Decided to go for it at 10:30 this morning. Rocked up just in time and the field was small with nobody I recognised as quicker than me. Went out fast with a tubby guy who maintained his banter start for 5 minutes. Kept working hard on the fast trail but realised after 15 minutes or so that the legs were tired and this was going to be a tough one. Felt like I was mincing in the heather as soon as I hit the steep climb. Every climb after was awful. Was in 2nd with two others nearby as we hit the 3rd checkpoint. Dropped one of them with some decent descending. Tucked in behind the other guy on the narrow path back into the plantation. Fell at one point and whacked my knee. As soon as we got onto the fast wide landrover track I pulled away and cruised in for second.

Decent position but fairly crap time. Was aiming for 1:20ish

Hill Running 5:38 [1] 0.56 mi (10:04 / mi) +30m 8:38 / mi
shoes: Inov 8 X-talon 212 #2

Got my knee cleaned out by the first aid folk then hung around for the prize giving. Knee a bit stiff jogging back to the car. Gave up after a while and then just walked. Lots of blood from the knee but mostly just a few superficial scrapes. Feels a bit tender too but no swelling so hopefully will be fine.

Hill Running 39:21 [2] 4.4 mi (8:57 / mi) +242m 7:38 / mi
shoes: Inov 8 X-talon 212 #2

Easy run. Pretty hungry by the time I got out so kept it short. Feeling pretty good. Legs a wee bit tired towards the end of the climb but not bad after a few decent days

Hill Running intervals 26:51 [5] 2.1 mi (12:47 / mi) +319m 8:41 / mi
shoes: Inov 8 X-talon 212 #2

Hill reps out at Hillend with Euan. First time doing any hill reps for a wee while. 5X3minutes. Felt pretty good. Reasonably strong and felt like I could have easily kept the session going for some more reps once I'd finished.

Trail Running warm up/down 16:00 [2] 2.0 mi (8:00 / mi) +16m 7:48 / mi

Hill Running 1:41:49 [3] 11.3 mi (9:01 / mi) +770m 7:26 / mi
shoes: Inov 8 X-talon 212 #2

Steady longish run in the pentlands. Weather turned nasty after about 20 minutes and spent most of the run feeling wet and cold in just shorts and a T-shirt

Hill Running 32:25 [2] 3.7 mi (8:46 / mi) +185m 7:35 / mi
shoes: Inov 8 X-talon 212 #2

Easy run. Same route as saturday morning.

Road Running 6:03 [2] 0.8 mi (7:34 / mi) +18m 7:04 / mi
shoes: Asics Gel DS Trainer

Keeping the running portion of the warm up minimal but did lots of drills and skips too

Road Running intervals 30:52 [5] 4.56 mi (6:46 / mi) +40m 6:35 / mi
shoes: Asics Gel DS Trainer

3*1mile then a couple of shorter, faster reps. Both a bit under 1k I think.

Miles were 5:40, 5:32 (bit short I think), 5:38. Feeling alright. Aiming to keep these sessions reasonably steady as the volume builds so was aiming for 5:40 pace or thereabouts. Dodgy stomach during mile 3 so long break after that for bathroom break.

Road Running warm up/down 4:00 [1] 0.45 mi (8:53 / mi) +10m 8:19 / mi

Easy round the trail on campus between lectures. Feeling pretty good and cruising along nicely.

Climbing 1:00:00 [0]

Bouldering at the Edinburgh uni cse with Daniel. Very hungry so didn't last too long.
