Hill Running 4:35 [2] 0.6 mi (7:38 / mi)
shoes: Inov 8 X-talon 212 #2

Got my times muddled up and panicked and went into the start pen earlier than I had to and hung around for a bit and got cold

Hill Running 51:20 [4] 5.1 mi (10:04 / mi) +614m 7:20 / mi
shoes: Inov 8 X-talon 212 #2

Reasonably poor run. Started a wee bit quick on the trail but settled in as I hit the hill. Chest better than expected. Climbing alright for a wee while and starting to close in on Tom Saville for a bit. Legs started to feel heavy, then felt good again when it flattened out for a bit then went back to feeling heavy. Stewart catching up gave me a bit of a kick up the arse and I got back into gear and hit the top with him. Tucked in behind on the descent planning to nip past him further down. Really slippy in the mud. Decked it a few minutes after leaving the top and hamstrings just cramped up. Had to stop for a bit then took a while before legs would let me push the pace again. All confidence on the mud was gone by this point though and was really slow off the hill. Overtaken by one guy near the bottom and got annoyed with myself so blasted the trail section to get ahead again.

Not sure why I cramped. Never happened before on such a short race. Not sure if it's from being out in the cold so long or maybe hadn't had enough to drink throughout the day. Chest feeling progressively worse afterwards.

Last hill race for the year. Pretty happy with how things have gone this season.

Trail Running 14:39 [1] 1.75 mi (8:22 / mi) +10m 8:14 / mi
(sick) shoes: Inov 8 X-talon 212 #2

Was still feeling a bit coldy but no worse so went out for an easy run. Cruising along nicely then chest suddenly tightened right up and was really sore. Very slow jog home after that. Will get back on my inhalers for now and no running before the relays on Saturday.

Stirling xc. 3k apparently but I think its a touch short. Think I took it a wee bit easy at the start last year so set off hard and tried to hold on this time. Felt pretty comfortable for most of it. Moving fast and just eased past people up the hills. Feeling pretty strong and a fair improvement on the last couple of years.

Still got a bit of a cold but better than yesterday. Need to stay healthy for the weekend. Will keep things very easy for now.

Note
(rest day)

Woke up feeling all blocked up and throat a bit scratchy so being smart about it and taking things easy. Just one more hill race to go for this year.

Easy trail loop. A few places a bit sore from yesterday but not too bad overall.
