Bit of jogging with Alysha before her race then some more faffing nearer to mine. Didn't do quite as much as I wanted but it was enough

After a shocking run last year I wanted to try and do a bit better. Conditions were good and not too much mud which I definitely prefer. Start was horrible and felt very trapped in the pack. After the small loop I moved to the outside and started running hard picking people off. First lap was quick feeling good. Started to hurt on the second but I was still passing people so was happy. Kept setting targets with people I knew ahead and worked through James Harrison from corstorphine then surprisingly got past Jethro and Tom Callan towards the end of lap 2. Running scared after that just trying to see what I had left. Also got ahead of scary noisy shettleston bandana guy who sounded like he was in a lot of pain. Not really passing many people now but still working hard and running well. Al did another well paced run and breezed passed me about 1k from the end. Fading a bit near the end and did lose a couple more places but still very happy with the run and managed to beat a few people I didn't expect to. Definitely one of the best runs I've had at a cross country race.

Very pleased with how things are going at the moment. Just need to stay consistent and keep working and hopefully things will continue in this direction!

Feeling great today and going well. Had two wipeouts in very quick succession near the top of the last descent on some frozen ground

Very easy jog with Euan round the kips route. Nice and chilled and not noticing anything in the hip. Did a couple of hill sprints near the end and all feeling good

Pyramid session with a good group out on the research park loop. 1,2,3,4,5,4,3,2,1 mins with 1min recoveries. Start was fast and tucked in with the group of Hamish, Niall and Juan. Pushing on myself and getting a gap on the longer reps. Niall got back ahead on the 2 with a big kick and him and Juan sprinted away on the last one. Feeling strong tonight and recovering well between reps and always feeling ready to go for the next one. Start was maybe a little fast and slowed in the second half but a good session.

Nice and easy up past Bonaly. Managed the whole thing without a torch. Very busy at the moment. Don't know if I'll manage the miles I want to do in the next few weeks but I'll make an effort to keep up some decent sessions. Hip improving but still a couple of wee twinges. Will keep things mostly flat for the time being. Got a spot for Ben Nevis again!!
