Road Running 1:01:26 [2] 8.0 mi (7:41 / mi) +58m 7:31 / mi
shoes: Hoka Clifton

Got home later than normal and very hungry so decided to skip gym since there was no way I'd be ready to run in time after dinner. Out later on for an easy cruise. Did 6X20s hill sprints on the biggest/only hill I could find out near where the xc was at the weekend. Surprisingly even though it doesn't warrant a contour on the map its a decent hill. 20s to run all the way up and a reasonable gradient. Sprints felt good. Will make an effort to try and do these semi regularly as well as being more on top of doing strides

Awesome run with Aine. Really nice sunny day and first snow of the winter on the hills. Great fun!

A fairly poor debut on the English cross country scene. Never really got into it and just couldn't get moving. Lots of room for improvement

Jogged down to turn moss to meet Ben then did about 5 miles in spikes on the grass. Very wet. This weekend should be fun

CR track.

12' tempo then 1600, 1200, 800, 400

Another solid session ticked off. Reps were a bit slower than I was running in the hounds sessions at saughton over the Summer but satisfying enough in the wet and without much speed lately.

Tempo pace: 5:30
Reps: 5:17, 3:55, 2:32, 69

Nice bonfire night run with lots of firework entertainment. About 4 miles on the road to join the river at Didsbury then followed it along until Turn Moss and went home from there. Stopped and did some strides about halfway round as well. Feeling pretty comfortable.

Still getting my head round this whole road vs hill running business. I generally wouldn't think twice about doing an 80 minute hill run one evening but an equivalent length road run feels quite a long way. Still focussing on building up slowly and not getting carried away with all this road mileage as I'm slightly paranoid about picking up an injury. No calf niggles at all now with the new shoes although I'm not sure if that's because they're big spongy Hokas or if mine were just old and needed replaced anyway
