Long run round Macc forest with Pete, Ben and Fraser. A bit of a tour from Peter with almost all of it off path and in some pretty heavy terrain. Working quite hard at points and muscles feeling a lot more worked than they would on a normal pentlands long run

While Edinburgh has Mark Pollard setting sessions for the hounds as a multi club group South West Manchester has Andrew Walling setting them for the Turn Moss Harriers session (i.e. for Callum but then we steal the session)

2x5mins (90s), 4x90s(60s), 10 mins.

Good session and working hard. Running well with Ben for the 5 mins with it feeling like I'd maybe gone a bit hard. The 90s felt pretty tough going but ground them out ok. Kept it together on the 10 but was really tying up in the last couple of minutes and it was a fairly max effort by the end. Figure it should probably be more of a threshold effort but getting a bit caught up being in such a big group with that much depth.

Paces: 5:21, 5:20, 4:55, 5:07, 5:06, 5:13, 5:31

Some parts of this into the wind feeling tough. The paces are only going to get slower over winter though as TM transitions into its normal muddy xc state

Despite all my cool downs now being flat instead of uphill they've gotten even slower and I'm ok with this

Easy Mersey mileage. Bit too muddy for road shoes coming back through chorlton ees. Feeling decent enough

Out exploring on the Floop out to Gorton and back on the canal. Keeping things at the top end of easy and getting into moderate territory along the canal. Slowed down when I got into town and stomach feeling a little dodgy last couple of miles so finishing easy

Out on Kinder with Fraser and Matt. Climbed up into the clag on the edge and it was quite hard going. Couldn't see very far and a bit harder than expected to pick your way across. Eventually headtorches came out and they would nicely light up the 2m in front of you not helping massively. Matt's died so going a bit slower trying to share with him. Then mine gave the warning flashes of death and we had to make our way down with one working torch and mine on emergency mode. Not too bad once out the clag but a bit more excitement than I had expected tonight.

Back on the track with a decent Chorlton group.

7 min/2k tempo followed by 3x(1000,600,400) with 200 easy jog recovery between reps and 2 minutes between sets.

Tempo was nice and comfy just cruising along. The reps were a lot harder. Working well with Ben a bit off the back of Pete and Andy on the first two sets and then Ben eased off for the last leaving me a bit on my own.

3:11, 1:53, 1:14
3:12, 1:52, 1:12
3:12, 1:54, 1:12

A bit more consistent than I expected to keep it after the first set felt pretty hard. Looking forward to doing more of this kind of speed stuff over winter

Very very easy back with Fraser and Matt

Easy catchup with Fraser down the Mersey and on some new paths to me further south. Feeling weirdly hard for the first bit despite the easy pace. Forgot just how flat this place was
