Orienteering 42 [3] 2.8 km (15 / km)
(injured) shoes: Inov-8

Nice map walk. Very scenic and was so weird to be passed by easily by those WALKING in the older classes... you can tell I was hobbling at an incredibly fast pace. The walk to the start up a huge hill then straight back down almost killed me but there was no way I wasn't going out. Really wish I could have run but considering I was going as fast as I could I think I made the right decision.

Orienteering race (Aus Sprint Champs) 14:21 [4] 2.8 km (5:08 / km)
(injured) shoes: Nike Waffles

Very painful but fun run. Got to show off my fantastic hurdling skills which could have ended very badly. Screwed up #8 by going to #9 before realising what I had done, probably lost me 30 seconds. I was running quite slow but my navigation was pretty good which was my goal.
Spoke to Su Yan after and she said that I have torn the muscle going from my ankle (bottom of fibula) up. I hurts to touch so it looks like running tomorrow is out of the question. Luckily ice has rescued me from the pain, and now my ankle is numb.
7th place, 2nd Australian which is pretty awesome considering it felt very slow and just not a good run.

Fun map change and going through the buildings, would have been nice to have used the school next door though.

Note
(injured) (rest day)

Sovereign Hill was awesome and we managed to find a fair bit of gold when we went gold panning. Long day but definitely a place worth the visit. Can't wait for some more rest days next year in QLD. Definitely something to look forward to!

Orienteering race (Schools Relay) 41:53 [4] 5.9 km (7:06 / km)
(injured) shoes: Inov-8

Had a great start to the race when I stacked it at the start triangle, said a few choice words, then ran 6km on a rolled ankle. Smart move, very smart. Other than the slow painful running the course was great and I love the terrain much more than gold mining. A few minor errors which cost me a few minutes weren't bad considering yesterdays run. Caroline and Winnie smashed it and thanks to them we got 1st (well 2nd to the kiwi's but their too fast for their own good). Such an amazing experience and I absolutely love relay day. So glad QLD seniors both came away with a gold medal!

Orienteering race (Schools Long) 56:00 [4] 7.9 km (7:05 / km) +130m 6:33 / km
shoes: Inov-8

Good run until #12 (spectator) where I got thrown by someone else on my course. Needless to say it was my fault as I wasn't keeping in contact with the map but I now understand why there is a no talking rule out on the course as it completely throws you especially when you're taking a bearing.
Good lesson to learn and looking back I can see exactly what I did and how such a small mistake can blow out into a huge one. That definitely won't happen again!

Thanks to my error my time of 56:00 won me a Toblerone at the Presentation Dinner for my 'perfect time'... which already all gone.

Excited to be in the official team with Shez and Carcar. Bring on the relays.

Orienteering race 14:04 [4] 2.67 km (5:16 / km) +25m 5:02 / km
shoes: Nike Waffles

Good run right up until #14. Made a 180 degree error and had my map the wrong way and instead of heading towards the finish for my last 2 controls I headed in the opposite direction down to the lakes. I was off with the fairies and didn't pick up on what I had done until I had reached a dead end. Lost almost a minute which is a bit frustrating. Nice campus and great courses!
