exercises 20:00 [3]

Strengthening to help my knees and a bit of core, was intending to do an easy run but never got to it because I left my running shoes at my moms house after the races.

orienteering - General race 56:31 [5]

I started the race poorly getting to the start just as the race started because I misplaced my compass in the car (which ended up being in my map case). I started off a bit confused because unlike everyone else who had started knowing where they were I didn't and they didn't have north lines on the map but a grid. When I got to the first control in the box the box wasn't working so I thought my SI might not be working or I had cleared and checked so I ran back to the parking/finish area, where I cleared and checked, did a few stretches, and headed back to the control, and ended up just punching my map. Other then that the race went pretty well other then a few mistakes and thinking I was on one leg when really I was on another, and as the race on I got more and more into it. My goal had been to run hard and push myself which I felt I accomplished towards the end when I started to really get into my groove. However I did realize that at times I need to calm down a bit and make sure I take a bearing and have a good route before I leave the control. I would still like to push my speed a bit more though.

running warm up/down 12:00 [1]

Was intending to warm-up a bit more since my legs and knees were sore from the previous race but it was cold so I didn't

orienteering - General race 33:51 [4]

Was an urban night race, with a small forested section. The race went fairly good other a small mistake at six where I didn't see the small paved path (probably do to the glare off the map case from my light), and was looking a bit to the right of it. Other then that it went pretty well, my knees were sore so I didn't run as hard as I liked. Someone should also fix the handicaps, Noah's entire course was the distance I just had to run in my box.

map reading 30:00 [0]

Realized I needed more work simplifying the map, because I find that at times when I get into a bit more technical terrain I don't run as hard as I could because I tend to spend too much time looking at every detail. Worked on simplifying routes and visualizing some of the longer or more detailed legs.

tnt 40:00 [4]

We ran for 25 minutes or 35 minutes (I can't remember), running a loop a Chedoke, once by yourself, run one with your partner, and then rest while your partner runs and repeat. After, we just did the ARK speed section and ran down the Bruce Trail (?) to the cone memorized 9 objects pictured on the cone and ran back.

tnt warm up/down 10:00 [3]

The regular warm-up run

tnt intervals 35:00 [4]

No one else was there so we just ran hard from the tunnel out to the first bridge and back (which turns out to be about 700m according to gmaps pedometer even though it feels like less) 5 times and had roughly a minute and a half (maybe 2 ...didn't have a watch) between each. Finished it off by running nancy green and then doing the final hill up the escarpment (the one at the end of the winter rally).

map reading 10:00 [0]

I somehow had a 2015 jwoc map from sass peppre (I don't know how it's spelled) in my math binder, and since math was kind of boring I decided to work on simplifying the map and visualizing what I had simplified the map down too.
