SM Lang D-final. A little under 10 mins behind Andreas Uller.

A few small mistakes on some controls, but a lot better then the last few days. Biggest mistake was about 45s to the finish. Was focused on pushing hard through the marsh and figured it would be pretty obvious to spot the finish (it is the finish after all). Turns out it wasn’t, didn’t realize I had ran past it until I hit some tape marking the way back to the “arena”.

A lot of room for improvement though on the longer legs, reading too much information at times, and not always taking the best micro route choices.

B-final Middle. Massively screwed up the first control, lost 4-4.5 mins. Pretty absurd when I only had 150m from the start triangle to the flag.

Solid enough orienteering from 1 to 13, and then made a stupid mistake on 14 running up the wrong stream, re-entrant. Forced me to go around a section of impassible cliffs so losing 1-1.5 mins. Then, pretty messy from there making a few 30s to 1 min mistakes on the final legs.

Good in the sense in went better then yesterday, bad in the sense it wasn't a good race. Struggling a bit in the steep, very detailed areas. A good number of the mistakes coming from that I had no concrete plan to actually attack the controls. Of course I need to start mentally ready to run, and actually being at my start on time would be good, but that isn't news.

Took a wrong turn running on a road back, so kind of just guessing where I was suppose to run to get back to arena

Just made my call-up. Thought I was suppose to start at 12:04, checked at the last minute, turns out it was 12:02.

Middle Quali A. All around pretty terrible. Ended up mispunching on 4, hitting a control 30m in front of it. The mispunch makes the result look better then it was.

Mistakes on the first 2 legs, so already started to lose it there. Generally, struggling in the terrain, I just pictured the terrain being different beforehand. Only a running a few legs well, but still not moving that fast, just uncertain about everything in the terrain.

Map right near the hotel. 4.2k 1:5000 control picking course with 50 controls, so pretty slow going with no flags and the forest wasn't as open as I had thought.

A lot of stopping in the beginning making sure at the control sites, but smoother towards the end when I slowed down more and tried to flow through the controls.
