Chilled recovery up east hill on some nice single track, tropical conditions in comparison to yesterday. Also making another push to do more trail running probably been on the roads too much recently.

Northern Champs - 1st (3rd on course 2)

Good start to the season with a rather surprising result. My plan was to play it safe and just get round with a decent enough result to put me in the top five. Took the first 5 controls easy making sure that I got a feel for the area before I started to go up to full race pace. Control 6 was the long one, I choose to go as straight as possible and luckily picked up random paths which led me perfectly to the control. Once in the open the legs were finally able to start moving and I didn't struggle with any of the controls. For some reason I was racing really sensibly only taking risks which were calculated as well as making sure I was traffic lighting. The control pick near the end was when I really started to flow and only made two little errors before a satisfying run in knowing I had done what I planed.

Terrain run at East hill with a little bit of nav, just trying to get back in to orienteering mindset before Northerns.

Finally put some time into sandc

Rolling/Stretching 10:00 [1]

Running (TRAIL) hills 57:01 intensity: (18 @1) + (23:37 @2) + (24:35 @3) + (8:31 @4) 9.67 km (5:54 / km) +426m 4:50 / km
ahr:141 max:176 shoes: Brooks Mazama

7 vertical hill reps avg~90 seconds.
Was going for more sustained efforts with less rest in order to better represent a race situation. Also feel as if I'm completely recovered from my injury in the sense that I'm at the same fitness level as when I got injured.

S & C 5:00 [1]

9 AM

Running (ROAD) (Wu) 13:29 [2] 3.04 km (4:26 / km) +16m 4:20 / km
shoes: Salming Speed 1

Running (ROAD) intervals 17:37 [5] 5.03 km (3:30 / km)
shoes: Salming Speed 1

A failed attempt at intervals, again.
5×1km was meant to do more but the heavy rain destroyed my motivation. I was also triggered by the wind which was killing all my speed leading to some deadly 3:30 splits.
Also given up on hr it annoys me so much.

Running (ROAD) (Wd) 11:13 [2] 2.46 km (4:34 / km) +24m 4:21 / km
shoes: Salming Speed 1

ahr:133 max:159 shoes: Salming Speed 1

Didn't want to go to track in the rain, wind and cold so just did some easy running. Will make up for it with some speed work tomorrow.
