slept:7.5 (sick)

Didn’t sleep well last night at all, and I woke up achey this morning. In terms of exams this is a pretty big week for me, so I’m hoping to kick this soon, at least enough to be able to focus on my work.

Today was going to be some skiing, but I have a ski race on Saturday and I think I’d rather be healthy for that than have more km’s under my belt before, so today is a more relaxed, sleep and tea-filled day.

I woke up sick, and today is really cold, so I was hesitant about this. It ended up being a mostly miserable slow waddle of a ski.

Skied with a guy who’s a super talented skier for most of the afternoon, and that was a fun time. I missed out by not heading up to bridger earlier this season!

Going to bed at 8pm last night was heavenly.

Nordic Skiing 31:02 [4] 4.29 mi (7:14 / mi)
ahr:165 max:177

This didn’t feel very good. Both my mind and my body weren’t into it. I felt like I was getting close to passing out in lab today working with cadavers which has never happened before, so maybe today is just an off day for me overall. Tried 2k hard and then 1k hard, and while the plan was for more, I called it after that.

Our flight out of Seattle was delayed by several hours, pushing our arrival time in Bozeman from just before midnight to 2:30a. Bozeman is pretty small, so there were no available drivers for Lyft, Uber, or the couple of taxi companies. We ended up hitching a ride with another MSU student, but she had to wait for her checked bag, which took about 1 hour to get since the door was frozen and the airport staff had to defrost the door to open it and get the bags in. I didn’t get in bed until 4:00a. Focusing today is tough

Night o-tervals, not done as hard intervals. I’m actually VERY sore from yesterday’s agility, and it’s been a while since I’ve been out on a sprint map, so I took this pretty relaxed as a way to ease into the weekend. I need to focus on reading ahead and having a plan.

Short workout, consisting of warmup, cooldown, and a 15 minute tempo in the middle. I found a treadmill that felt kind of okay? That is certainly a first for me, but a very good thing in this cold weather! During my ~6 minute walk to the gym, what trace amounts of water was left in my water bottle FROZE.

The problem with climbing is that you need to have short nails, and I often forget to cut my nails right before climbing.
I’m going ice climbing this weekend, and I’m super excited for it!

9 F today, which made for the coldest running temps I’ve ever been in. My stomach was freezing and my eyelashes were frozen, although the rest of me stayed relatively warm and I even ended up taking off my gloves at the end. Overall, my body was not having it though, and I was happy to be back inside once done.

The plan was for a short, easy run, but this turned into an unintentional tempo. I had a meeting right after practice, so I was going to turn back early, but I don't know my way around enough yet, and I realized I didn't know the way back. So I kept going, but the club was absolutely hauling today, so I was doing everything to just keep people in sight. They ended up losing me, but I found myself on a road I recognized, so I kept powering back to campus and made it in just enough time. This definitely wasn't what I needed for training today though.
