Soccer 2:00:00 [3]

Won our soccer game 2-1. We had silly refs and among other bad calls, they called me off sides when I most definitely was not. Otherwise I probably could have gotten a decent shot off.

Alpine Skiing 2:00:00 [2]

A little bit of skiing before and after teaching.

Lessons went really well! Siri and I split up, so I finally had my own actual class of five 5- and 6-year-olds. We took 3 runs on the Pig chair and they did pretty well. Much less falling than last week!

Note

I did the blood drive, but not too long after they started taking my blood I passed out. It was a very weird experience because I don't have a problem with blood or needles. According to one of the other blood donors I had jerky movements for a little bit. They fed me cookies and juice and made me sign a form saying that I was okay. I felt fine about 20 minutes later, but didn't think it'd be wise to train later in the day.

Running 36:27 [3] 4.59 mi (7:56 / mi)
shoes: Asics GT-1000 4

DQ with Siri and Dhaman. We thought about going further and doing drug park, but I wanted to get back home early for tutoring & a college interview.

Orienteering 3:30 [3] 0.4 mi (8:45 / mi)
12c shoes: Innov-8 Mudclaw 265

Micro-O 1 set up by Mike. Helped a lot with getting my head into the map.

Orienteering 3:24 [3] 0.36 mi (9:27 / mi)
11c shoes: Innov-8 Mudclaw 265

Micro-O 2

10 AM

Orienteering race 47:06 [3] 3.66 mi (12:52 / mi)
shoes: Innov-8 Mudclaw 265

Good race navigationally, but slow overall. I need to work on making decisions faster, pushing myself through the entire race, and training physically by actually running throughout the week.

2 PM

Soccer 1:15:00 [3]

Drove straight to soccer on Bainbridge Island after orienteering. We missed the ferry that would have brought us there on time, so I missed the first part of the game.

Soccer 1:30:00 [2]

Soccer practice, the usual.

Monday Jan 18, 2016 #

Soccer 1:30:00 [3]

Sprints for fitness near the start of practice which were good. With running XC and distance for track I don't often get little sprints in. We only had 6 girls tonight, so we combined with the younger girls, and it was alright to play with them.

Alpine Skiing 5:00:00 [2]

Skiing with the family at Crystal. The morning was pretty miserable because the upper mountain was closed (due to wind?), the lines were long, it was cold, and it was wet. We went in for an early lunch, and by the time we were back out the upper mountain had opened. The day improved tremendously, and we found lots of good skiing on Campbell Basin, Dead Tree/Leo's Rock, Eagle's Nest, and Snake Pits.

Soccer 2:00:00 [3]

First game we've won this season! Score was 3-1, and they weren't a bad team. We played well, and I think we're starting to get the new formation.

4 PM

Alpine Skiing 1:30:00 [2]

Skiing at Snoqualmie before lessons. It's hard to see even with the lights on.

9 PM

Alpine Skiing 45:00 [2]

And skiing a bit after lessons. I can successfully do a 180! Not a switch 180 yet though.

Running 40:00 [3] 5.0 mi (8:00 / mi)
shoes: Asics GT-1000 4

Lake Kathleen. The rest of the team did Maple Hills, so I ran with them until the turn-off. My right calf was feeling tight again like last week. It's uncomfortable but not unbearable. Plan is to stretch it and roll it out tonight and tomorrow.

Wednesday Jan 13, 2016 #

Soccer 1:30:00 [2]

Did some fitness at the beginning, various drills, and ended with a scrimmage.

Strength 1:20:00 [3]

Working out with the football team! I brought Paige also to try convince her to throw javelin this spring. I'm definitely not as strong as I was at the end of my weight training class last spring, but I maintained more strength than I thought I would. I probably won't even be able to lift my pencil tomorrow, but it was a lot of fun!

~10 minutes of running drills/stretches
Bench 8x45, 8x55, 5x60
Dot box hopping exercise
Dumbbell fly 3 sets 8x15
Incline dumbbell 3 sets 8x15
Triceps extension 3 sets 10x25
Ladder pushups 3 sets down & back
Triceps dips 3 sets of 10 (had to bend my knees on last set)
Pushups 5, 4, 4 (only 2 of these were real, the rest were girl pushups)
Planks 2x (center 1:00, R/L 0:45, back 0:30)

7 PM

Soccer 1:30:00 [3]

Even with taking Sunday off I could feel my legs still a bit, but it wasn't bad.

Orienteering 49:32 [4] 4.4 km (11:15 / km)
11c shoes: Innov-8 Mudclaw 265

WIOL #5 at Putney Woods, the first off-trail meet of the season! Naturally, I ran through the woods quite a bit instead of employing the trails, because I could, which wasn't always a good idea. It's still the Pacific Northwest. Just because you CAN go off trail doesn't mean you should. Oops. But it was a really fun race and I think the course was well designed.

12 PM

Soccer 2:00:00 [4]

Drove straight from the O' meet to my soccer game, 1.5 hours away. We played the team that's currently at the top in the league and we played horribly. It was a 5-0 loss. Many of us were tired from our game on Thursday, and we only had 1 sub (better than both of our previous games, but still not good).

After this week, I'm physically exhausted. My whole body hurts. Running on Tuesday and Wednesday made my calf tight, and it's still tight. Playing full soccer games on Thursday and today was draining and gave me several bruises. Orienteering today was tiring and gave me another scrape/bruise. Pulling little kids up a hill yesterday was more work than I thought it would be. Unless I feel awesome when I wake up, I'm taking tomorrow off completely to recover.

Friday Jan 8, 2016 #

Note

First day of ski instructing! We got up to the mountain late, so we didn't have time to ski before, and then we only got in 2 runs afterwards. Pulling little kids up the hill was tiring though. I'm looking forward to when they're able to ride the chair!

Soccer 2:00:00 [3]

30min warmup + 90min game. It was a 0-1 loss, but it's only our second game of the season, we only had 11 players, our keeper was one of our field players who isn't supposed to be playing because of an ankle injury, and we had a guest player. So considering the circumstances, it wasn't half bad. Playing the full game made my calf more tight, but I've been stretching which should help. Also might have minorly tweaked my ankle but it's so small that I think I'll be good by tomorrow.

Running 45:00 [3] 5.0 mi (9:00 / mi)
shoes: Asics GT-1000 4

Lake Kathleen again. Right calf sore from yesterday. Siri and I were going to train with the football team in the weight room, but they were running back and forth in the gym, and we decided that if we were going to run, it would be much more fun to do so with the XC team outside on a real run.

7 PM

Soccer 1:30:00 [2]

Pretty normal soccer practice... passing patterns, shooting, possession, etc.

Tuesday Jan 5, 2016 #

Running 45:00 [3] 5.0 mi (9:00 / mi)
shoes: Asics GT-1000 4

Lake Kathleen with a bunch of the girls.

Monday Jan 4, 2016 #

Soccer 1:30:00 [2]

First practice back after break.

Sunday Jan 3, 2016 #

Alpine Skiing 2:00:00 [2]

Skiing with Sean and Siri for 1.5 hrs before the clinic and then some skiing in the clinic. They taught us how to carve turns. If they need to teach their instructors that, I'm worried for the sake of the kids.

Alpine Skiing 6:00:00 [3]

Full day at Crystal with the family. Got to ski with Lance, Shane, and Phil as well. The snow wasn't great but still fun, and we ended the day by hiking the King and skiing down Silver Basin. We found the blood patch on the snow where my mom split open her chin two days earlier.
