Note

Planned on taking some time off after JWOC before getting running again, but now I'm sick :( It's not too terrible and I think it'll pass quickly, but still a bummer.

Orienteering 50:32 [3] 5.3 km (9:32 / km) +140m 8:25 / km
17c shoes: Innov-8 X-talon 212

This did not go very well for me. I was very mentally distracted the whole time, which translated to several mistakes right at the beginning. From there, I slowed it down to try get more into it. That somewhat worked. It's really hard to orienteer when you're not focused solely on it!

Because sometimes you're so jet-lagged that you stay up late catching up with your sister and then think it's a great time to do core.

Orienteering race 31:22 [4] 3.56 mi (8:49 / mi) +96m 8:08 / mi
24c shoes: Innov-8 X-talon 212

Chose your own adventure at Fort Casey. I'd never been there before, so it was neat to be someplace new! After a full day of travelling yesterday, my brain was somewhat muddled so I had several silly mistakes, but it was decent.

Note

Travelling home! Now that I'll have access to better wifi, my logging will be more regular.
JWOC recap:
-Sprint 79th (last year 37th) Not a good race. I made mistakes, got confused several times, had troubles picking good routes, and consequently lost motivation and didn't push as hard.
-Long 96th (last year 117th) I think this was my best race. I had two sizeable mistakes on 6 and another on 8, but that was pretty much it. I'm extremely happy with how this race went.
-Middle Quali 31st (last year 40th) Went pretty well. It didn't feel great, especially at the beginning because it took me a while to get into the map, but after the first few controls, things went better.
-Middle Final (B) 45th (last year 47th) Decent, but not great. I had several mistakes, and was physically pretty tired from the other races.
-Relay 37th team, 31st individually (last year 30th team, 25th individually) This was a close second best race behind the long. I had a couple of bobbles in the control circles but nothing major. I was with lots of people until 3, then alone, then with 1-2 other people for the later part. The last loop after the arena passage was tough physically, and I definitely think I slowed down, but I'm really happy with this race overall.

Orienteering race 1:12:09 [4] 5.83 mi (12:23 / mi)
11c shoes: Innov-8 X-talon 212

First leg of the SOM relay. Other than a bad mistake on 2, this went pretty well. I had some hesitations and other bobbles but nothing too major. I'm happy with it for being my second day in Swiss terrain!
The two USA girls relay teams were last and second to last... :'(

Running warm up/down 6:52 [2] 0.54 mi (12:43 / mi)

Orienteering 1:10:30 [2] 2.77 mi (25:27 / mi)
13c shoes: Innov-8 X-talon 212

First day of training in Switzerland! We didn't have any streamers out, so I felt pretty uncertain on a lot of controls. I was going slowly and had trouble, but it wasn't a disaster :)
