shoes: Brooks Cascadia 14 - black/red

Bridger Ridge Run! It was incredibly hot. I started in wave 5, but I probably should have been in wave 4, and I quickly took the lead in my wave. I was doing pretty well for the first 4 hours, about the time when I got to Saddle peak. The last 2 hours were rough though. There’s no shade on top of the ridge, and it was just getting warmer. The ice bandanas at Baldy were amazing, and then at the “emergency aid station” just before diving off the ridge I was sat down in some shade to have water poured on my head and ice put down my shirt. They asked me if I was still sweating, and I told them I wasn’t sure because I had been trying to figure that out myself for the last 15 minutes! After a bit in the shade, I headed down for the last 2.5 miles. I must have looked pretty dang hot because when I finally finished, medical team volunteers grabbed on to me and walked me over to the ice bath. I wasn’t feeling great by any means, but I didn’t think I looked THAT bad!
Blisters did surprisingly well with thick blister cushions. KT (tape? Is saying KT tape like saying PDF file?) on my L knee might have helped, might not have helped, but either way my knee felt fine. R hip flexor was bothering me throughout. Later in the evening, I was wiped out. I think I probably did have borderline heat exhaustion throughout the day and in the evening I didn’t feel good.

Orienteering race 39:30 [4] 3.4 mi (11:37 / mi) +62m 11:00 / mi
shoes: VJ Bold (pink)

US nationals relay
I ran leg 2 for BTW, with Ben (leg 1) and Will (leg 3). My VJ’s give me horrible blisters. It’s been a problem before, but it’s gotten worse. These are probably the worst blisters I’ve ever had. Time to get new orienteering shoes.
