Wasatch trail running series #4 at Heber. I started out feeling really good on this one, didn’t go out too hard, and was able to push a little on the rolling flat section. About 4 miles in though, my stomach was doing some major flip flops, and I had to step off the trail to find a tree. I thought everything would be fine after that, and I’d be able to keep pushing without having lost too much time, but I was hit with the worst abdominal cramps I’ve ever experienced. I had to stop multiple times from the pain, which was really frustrating! After having to stop to breathe several times, I dropped my racing mentality, and I just tried to keep plodding along for the last three miles. This was a great course, with overall good footing and beautiful views, and I’m pretty disappointed in how it panned out for me. Unfortunately, this is not one of the courses the series does twice, so I don’t get a redo this year.
