Sunday Forest run with Tom - Kings Garn Gutter explore
Took an O map and ran on some of my favourite trails in the area, some highlights of the RR10s and CC6s in that woods. Bit of a reccee for the CC6 in 2 weeks, not too muddy currently. Felt pretty tough going on the hills, breathing a little tight. Good to get out early in the Forest for a run. Only 20 mins driving each way which is pretty good.

Goal was to slow it down a bit and focus on the orienteering, not necessarily sure I did that but the performance was good! A few route choices and lines that on hindsight I would have liked to have done better. Maybe should have looked at the whole leg in detail and taken into cosideration height gain a bit more. Biggest time loss was 11, right reentrant but was too low. The control felt too high really and was worried about the undergrowth. Wore my windproof top and was too hot halfway round, took it off and felt much better. Nice little head to head near the end and came out of it quite well.

Compass: better setting or sighting for long rough compass legs + slow down and trust the compass on short legs
Route choice: consider the whole leg and take into consideration height gain more
Fitness: currently good enough to be up there without a sensational run. Build some more fitness in rough and hilly terrain

Whiteley parkrun with Nicole
First part of the New Year's Day double. Quite a lot of OS were out (more than I expected) and the course was actually quite nice. A bit narrow on the out and back bit, but in general quite pleasant.

Running 25:46 [3] 4.98 km (5:10 / km)
shoes: Mizuno Paradox 4 2018

Southampton parkrun with the OSR gang
Second part of the New Years day double. My 75th parkrun and one of my goals for 2019 will be to get to the 100 milestone. Not sure when in the year but should be doable.
Running with Nicole, Vicki, Rach, Dean and Baz. Lots of friends down from OSR and from SAC. Then onto breakfast
