SOC Middle Distance Mark Ash Wood - 4.3km course in 36:31 + WU/WD
Had a cold midweek and felt tired so not felt able to run since the weekend. Thought I'd give today a go as it was shorter and could be useful practice for the British Relays. Ran the 2nd longest course as it was closer in length to what I'll be running end of March. Still felt knackered and my orienteering was pretty poor. Drifted left a lot? If I was team captain for the British (which I am), I would not select myself after todays performance!

Wessex Night League finale Queens Park 4th
Confirmed that I had won the league during the day so tonight was just about enjoying a victory lap. Felt really tired and achey throughout the day. Yoga didn't necessarily help. Visited our friends in Bournemouth beforehand which was fun.
The pairs format is quite tricky, hard to work out where all the pairs are and what the best order will be. Went for a near control that got me out and then worked away, this fortunately led me across into the urban and they linked up well. Back through the golf course and was going okay. Found number 66 hard to find, think there were benches on the control circle edge but they were obscured (almost gave up!) Felt a bit tired on some of the hills and had a head ache which was a bit worrying. Picked it up towards the end, but got to my last pair and forgot to get its partner! Woops too busy concrentrating on getting back and didn't even think about it.
Think my route would have been decent enough if I had remembered the last control! Wasn't moving as fast as I would like after the weekend but it didn't really matter. Nice to get the series win with 7 wins out of my 14 runs. It's been a nice focus over the winters dark and wet evenings.
