Coniston Water and back up to Hawkshead
Amazing ice cream. On hindsight, should have done a shorter route! Legs definitely feeling it after halfway. Think 90 mins would have been more suitable. First day of 9 day that we've misjudged and not paced ourselves.

Road surface allow Coniston Water felt pretty rough and really flagging after one big hill in the south (and furthest point from home). Managed to make it back.

Supporting John on the Tea Round
Northwestern Fells from Buttermere to Braithwaite. Up Whiteless Pike, over to Grisedale Pike then back to Crag Hill, Sail, Causey Pike. Out to Rowling End then traverse to Barrow.
Really great to support John on his round and to be there helping him. We've run a lot together so felt pretty natural to be supporting. The weather was only really hot for the last 20 mins, unlike the expected heat all day. Wore my windproof for a small bit once we got to the top and it was a bit windy. On hindsight should have had a couple of spare warn layers, only had 2 windproofs and a coat for John and I.
John did great. We had two small stops to refuel but otherwise was moving well the entire time. I'm not sure how much faster I would have been going normal times on some of the ups! The poles were definitely useful and used on most of the significant climbs.
My feet/ankle were getting a bit cut up on the rough line to Barrow (bracken/heather etc) with the shoe rubbish.
What challenge do I want to do?!

Cycling 51:59 [3] 20.06 km (2:35 / km)

Cycle to Hawkshead
First ride out in the Lakes while Nicole ran. Roads were really damp and greasy and I really didn't want to stack it. Front break also lose so taking it pretty steady and cautiously. A couple of the hills felt hard work but in general nice to explore some new roads and not be on the feet.

Cycling 43:38 [1] 15.26 km (2:52 / km)

Cycle to Grasmere
Cycle to meet John, Alice and Louise for a picnic then up to Grasmere village for an ice cream and gingerbread shop. Really good timing to stop and see Sabrina Verjee come through on her round. Taking it fairly steady, the main road was a bit busy. Not as easy when we don't have the directions on the Garmins

Wetherlam from Tilberthwaite, up Wetherlam edge
3hrs46 total time
Possibly one of the best half day Lakes walks I have done. It had a bit of everything: old mining history, glacial landscape with a large corrie, rocky and loose scramble to the summit, testing conditions on the top, then a good descent back down. Clag clearing and some good views.
A bit wet and greasy on the scramble up, then popped on the top and it was pretty windy and chilly. Didn't have much time for checking the nav as I was conscious Nicole could get cold. Added my wateproof and took a bearing off then at the small tarn added my jumper and gloves. On the verge of being too cold. Didn't see any people untill we were down the main ascent.

Troutbeck Tongue
Solo run while Nicole does a session. Drive round to Town Head was slower than expected, lots of traffic after a chilled morning. Took the run pretty leisurely, not working too hard. The track on the valley floor was tarmacked and would've preferred different shoes! Steep climb up, kept on the rocks for interest. Calves burning a bit. Chilled on the top then along the Tongue and back down the valley. Bum bag was pretty rammed but couldn't fit everything in it.

Elterwater to Little Langdale 8/6/21 10km 400m
Low level walk from Elterwater to Little Langdale and Skelwith Bridge. Nice to take in a few of the sights including the Slater Bridge and Cathedral quarries. They were good to explore and glad we had the head torches. Then lunch at Chesters before an easy stroll back. Loop was a bit longer than I thought! Then had a chill at the NT Langdale car park looking at the view and pouring over maps/making plans.

Red Screes and Dove Crag + extra
22.63km 7:15 total time
Up to the Waterfalls from Ambleside, then up to the Kirkstone Pass and the steep ascent of Red Screes. Down to Middle Dodd, contouring round to High Hartsop Dodd. Back up to Little Hart Crag then elected to go up to Dove Crag before descending over High and Low Pike

Felt a bit tired and flagging the whole day, but the body kept on moving. Probably expected to be more like 4-5 hours but ended up being a 7 hour day. Had the poles the whole time which I think does help. Some rough ground practice on the way up Red Screes. Feet felt a bit uncomfortable in the Roclites, maybe a bit narrow in the forefoot (should be wider than the X-Talons though!) Not enjoying the descent by the end and wanted to be down a bit. Bag felt a bit heavy, carried 1L of water and topped up 500ml halfway

Probably one of those times we were a bit over optimistic and misjudged how long it would take
