At Curtin Uni. Fun course but not my kind of orienteering, just not quick enough. didn't really lose any time except on 8 where i went to run through a gap that has olive green in it - i turned back and went around and lost maybe 20 odd seconds. it was clear that some people had been through the gap - brooner dsq'd himself for going through but he wasn't the only one (when i left he was the only one to have owned up to it)... i don't think any of the top guys did it but its still annoying, urban sprint races always seem to have some element of dodginess.

finished up a good 1.5 mins down on the JWOC sprint champ in 6th (3rd Australian behind Simon and Eon). Even without my mistake i'd be over a minute behind and in the same place!

Kinda scary start to this but hit the first few ok. Started running straight across to 8 but ended up swinging left to go around the green and run at the waterfall SW of the control, don't think i lost much there but. pretty clean otherwise except for 16 where i ran to the centre of the circle but then turned right and looked for the control on the cluster (i read the description as a rock - the rock the control is on looks like the end of the cliff), only lost a few seconds. i was habsolutely wrecked by the time i hit the last loop and even had to walk sections of the climb up to the last control. i lost a 15 sec lead over simon at the start of that loop to trail him by 6 sec at the finish in 4th. no way i could have run Eons time, just too fast. Great course, again making good use of an average area. Just a bit too much fast running across open paddocks (about 2km!) for me today. although the bits in between were great fun, lots of short legs and direction changes - exactly the kind of orienteering i like.

Not feeling super pumped for this given that (I found out last night) it wasn't a NOL race and it was cold and raining. Just planned on running solid. Started well but drifted waaay left on 3 and ended up running the track route - didn't lose too much time so all good. the long leg (5) wasn't so good for me, i changed my mind half way along (based on how the vegetation was looking my original route started seeming dodgy) and lost a bit of time there. kept it fairly clean for the rest except for the dodgy one on the rock (11) but it looks like everyone lost more there than i did. briefly snatched the lead from simon at 14 but i ran right (high) to 15 and lost a little bit, but held on enough to finish 2nd just 25 seconds down. reasonable course for a pretty ordinary area. why wasn't this a NOL race?

my time in the results is a minute slower than my gps - was that the same for everyone?
