JHI Relay - 4th

Set off fairly quickly and just didn't feel the speed, probably cos I basically couldn't stretch my legs the day before cos of my knees. Was doing ok and catching Joe Wright but then had a longer gaffle and got dropped. Catching again in a field but then screwed up a control on a rootstock which I thought was on a patch of light green. By this point Joe had dropped me and even though there were more fields my legs felt like lead. Next we went into a looped section, did ok but lost time then right at the end made a mistake and spent 30s in the green instead of light green. Got taken in the final section by Zac but he had a shorter gaffle so not too upset. Need to work on speed through the terrain over the winter.

JHI Individual - 2nd

An overall good race and quite happy with my position. Thought that the race was going to be much worse so enjoyed running a lot more than I thought I would. Messed up a few controls but nothing major, took a stupid route through the heather to 7 rather than using the paths. Still didn't lose too much time. Bashed my right knee at 5 and had 15 seconds of swearing on the floor before hobbling off, then with about 150 meters to go I smashed the other knee really badly on a tree that I slipped and fell on. Managed to jog/walk in but then died on the ground. Not much fun, now have two swollen knees!

Orienteering 14:30 [4] ** 3.31 km (4:23 / km)
shoes: Inov-8 Mudclaw 265 Blue2

WCOC Thursday - Curwen Park

Mass start with all the juniors was fun. Went ok apart from awful mapping of piles of rubble which have probably changed since it was last mapped. Took Ali at the end ;)

Wednesday Oct 5 #

Orienteering 35:00 [1] 3.0 km (11:40 / km)
shoes: Inov-8 Mudclaw 265 Blue2

Checking control sites with dad.

Tuesday Oct 4 #

Running 34:00 [3] 7.12 km (4:47 / km)
shoes: Nike Zoom Streak 5

Nice easy run on the roads, good to feel good enough to be able to run. Pushed a bit for maybe 10-15s just to see what it was like. Hopefully I can stay like this till JHIs at the weekend.
