Orienteering 1:32:38 [3] 9.4 km (9:51 / km)

Vic Long Champs, Creswick Diggings.

Pretty happy with my run, but brought back down to earth by the big gap between 4th and 5th place!

Started fine, got a bit confused at 5 and the random dog that was running around didn't lead me to the control, which was disappointing. Lost a bit of time in the detail at the end of #8 by just assuming I was where I thought I was despite it not making sense. Then slogged through the spur gully controls. Jim came through me leaving #11 and it was good to have someone to chase, who didn't disappear immediately. Went out and around 17-18 but a) didn't nail exit direction and only found the road at the campground, and b) had an aborted attempt to get in to 18 but the bracken was over my head.

I think I need to practise orienteering more.

Orienteering 46:18 [3] 4.4 km (10:31 / km)

Vic Middle Champs, Petticoat Gully.

Started well apparently (in 3rd place at #3!) but then took a maverick (ie. stupid) route choice to #4, which involved me crossing Slaty Creek twice on a leg when I shouldn't have crossed it at all... Got a bit confused around the circle at #9 after leaving the track without being 100% certain what was going on. Otherwise seemed to manage the mining ok.

First starter, but Belinda was the only person I saw go past me (not that I saw her for long).

Running 45:00 [2]

Forgot my headtorch 2nd week in a row! Didn't even remember at all today until I got there.

Big group of newbies tonight. One of whom used to live at St Mary's, so we could compare notes. Also discovered one of the regulars was a project firefighter with the department for ages so could compare notes about that too.

Quite a slow jog tonight. I was ok with that because my calves were a bit tight. Must have done too many stairs.

Running 14:20 [4]

5 x 18 floors = 90

Did 5 rounds of the full building tonight. Changed stairwells for the last 2 so I don't get off centre.

Had planned to do it last night but feeling exhausted. Have felt run down most of Winter, like I'm fighting something off - but have so far been successful in the fight.

Running 7:50 [3]

Not even half a lap of Carlton Gardens after the stairs.
