Orienteering 17:41 [4] 3.6 km (4:55 / km)

Sprint into Spring, Melbourne Uni

Used my home ground advantage to good effect and claimed a few first-time scalps (Jim and David).

Missed a couple of optimum route choices on the longer legs (3 and 14), but snuck in for = first on the hill climb.

Ran hard, and was definitely helped by being familiar with the area (having lived on the map for 2 years and studied on it for 5).

Great that I'm getting fit just after Aus Champs :)

Orienteering 12:00 [3]

Beer [Sprite] relay.

Things to work on:
- drinking quickly
- seeing in the dark.

Definitely slipped since the glory days of winning the 2008 Hungarian Booze O.

Solid day of training, supplemented by riding from home > uni > city > Kew > home. Fredrik took me the long/safe way home along bike paths (safe assuming you don't end up in the creek). Not sure if all the day's riding caused the rather large hole in the crotch of my pants (which I only found when I got home) or whether it was already there.

Running 45:00 [3]

Thursday run club.

Easy run tonight - although the pace was probably quicker than I would go by myself (and my legs felt a bit weary), we had a few little breaks. Two new guys, one of whom had little in the way of running experience or fitness, but plenty of determination.

Nice night out, and now I don't have to go to the trouble of remembering my torch :)

A couple of the guys did an extra lap at the end, but I went to the bike shop to eat my body weight in cheese.

Cheeky stair session before trivia.

Overcooked it a bit - discovered that doing double steps is heaps quicker.

Short jog around half of Carlton Gardens. Nice out in the twilight :) Legs dead!

Orienteering 41:55 [3]

Sandringham sprint training.

Hot. What a lovely way to spend a Sunday evening! Match raced with Lanita - I lost the first one convincingly, and neither of us did the second one properly so let's call it a draw. Skipped some controls that involved going through the dunes (especially on the second course). Legs didn't have a lot of zip in them!

Rolled down to Sandringham with a tail wind :)

Felt a bit sorry for the Round the Bay people coming the opposite direction!

Riding 30:00 [3] 8.3 km (3:37 / km)

Just when I thought I was done for the night.

The speccy lightning show we saw (well, I didn't because I was facing the wrong way) apparently took out the Upfield line signals. So back on the bike at North Melbourne. Started tipping it down after about a minute, so sheltered for a while and put on my coat.

Pretty spent by the time I got home!
