Wednesday Oct 31

riding 25:00 [3]

Tuesday Oct 30

running (Morialta) 52:00 [3]
ahr:163 max:183 slept:10.0
First morialta run for the season, im glad its back!! It was the usual loop but not to 3rd falls.
Didnt feel great on the hills and up the top but was feeling much better for the last few ks. Morialta is always very enjoyable, there were lots of purple flowers which smet like chocolate! Also was good to see a big bunch of young'uns out
riding 24:00 [3]
ahr:157 max:170
Rode home from running and then rode past my place almost up to montacute, thinking happy little thoughts and enjoying the evening!

Sunday Oct 28

running 1:03:00 [3]
ahr:144 max:168 slept:10.0
Ran up Black hill via ghost gully then along the top and down the quarrys. Was feeling great at the start, pumped for a good hill run, but felt dissapointingly pathetic on the hill. Just couldnt push and felt really weak. Stopped at the top and ate some red berries, though that was more of an excuse to stop than an energy source! Have been feeling a bit average lately, maybee im just unfit?
OH well, blackhill is always a nice run, espeially in a gale!!

Saturday Oct 27

running 44:00 [3]
ahr:146 max:168 slept:11.0
Ran the dam loop via Marble quarry track. Starts gentle uphill then 10 mins steepish uphill.
I had wanted to wait for the storm to break so it would be raining and exciting etc.. but it didnt seem to be in a hurry, so it was really hot, humid, windy.. and made my legs feel really sluggish. Strange hazy view over adelaide, looked like the end of the world!
Knees werent happy about the steep downhill..have to do some stretches now.

Friday Oct 26

strength and cond 30:00 [1]
Felt I had to do something today, and as the muscles had felt a bit dormant in my run yesterday, pilates seemed useful.
Felt terrible today, reeeally tired after 5hrs sleep, which is pretty pathetic. Ill go to bed at 8 and hopefully feel better tomorrow.
Have to get into a good training routine again...

Thursday Oct 25

running 28:00 [3]
Finally decided to go for a run after a week or so break (too much 'studying' and distraction from 'studying')... it was only short because it got dark, but it reminded me how good running is.
I have to get in a longish hilly run on the wkend, the Blackhill challenge is soon!

Saturday Oct 20

riding 20:00 [3]
Rode home and a detour in wadmore pk on the mtb.
swimming 25:00 [2]
Went swimming after my first ever driving lesson.. swam 1k mostly freestyle and quite continuous. A bit extra after, kicking etc.

Friday Oct 19

riding (commute) 32:00 [2]
Missed my bus so decided to ride to my 8am lecture. Not too much traffic- i think i was riding just in front of the peak hour wave. Main roads till Marden then leafy suburbs to the city then along the river.
Riding to uni is much more fun than sitting in a stinky bus, and you can sing/hum as loud as you want and noone can hear!!
Im going to ride to uni more often (funny should say that when theres only one wk left!)
riding (commute) 40:00 [3]
Ride home from uni, pretty quick trip considering its the uphill version of the morning ride. Got my RDI of fumes..maybe next time its peak hour ill go along the river.

Thursday Oct 18

kayaking 2:00:00 [2]
Paddling around the mangroves north of port adelaide, instead of going to uni... I went in the double with Tobias while my dad went single. It was pretty windy in the main channel but nice and sheltered in the smaller ones. The tide was out so we had to do a bit of mud trudging which was actually quite fun!
We were going along quite well though our boat wasn't so good in the choppy water and we had a few unbalanced episodes...the last of which ocurred 100m before the finishing and ended with us and all our stuff floating around our upsidedown canoe...Much fun!

Wednesday Oct 17

running 1:00:00 [3]
I meant to go out for a short run in the last halfhour of daylight but it ended up being a bit longer...
I ran through wadmore pk to Addison and everything was going to plan untuil i ran into the tail end of the Athelstone runners, who convinced me to try and catch the others who had started running up ghost gully, so I ran hard for a bit but didnt manage to catch them. Halfway up I decided to take the contour path back but some how ended up on the summit link trail..so before i knew it I was on the top of black hill and it was pitch dark.
The only way down was through the quarrys, which arent the most inviting at night...so the last 15mins was an adrenaline fuelled down hill dash in the dark.
Good training for the blackhill challenge decent.

Tuesday Oct 16

running 20:00 [3]
Went up Moores rd to check out the damage from the fire which has burnt the top part of morialta. It was in controll but still plenty of smoke and some flames.
Actually, I walked there and back with Tobias but ran along the top of moores rd for a bit, it was a 3hr walk so was tiring enough even though I didnt run much..
Note
Havent done any training since coming back from oceania...too many other distractions at the moment, but id better start up again I guess, and make the most of this great training weather!

Monday Oct 8

riding 30:00 [3]
slept:6.5
Rode up to montacute and up institute road, because it was such a lovely evening and i really just wanted to ride back down the road. Rode my mums pink beast because my bike needed pumping up..it was surprisingly easy to ride up hill compared to mine...

Sunday Oct 7

orienteering race 37:40 [5]
ahr:174 max:187
Second leg in oceania relays.
A pretty clean run apart from about a min on one was a bit off on some controlls- need to be more perfect!
Felt pretty good running and pushed it pretty hard though was running alone for most.
5 mins behing grace, thats quite a bit...
running warm up/down 15:00 [2]
Warm up. Felt good.

Saturday Oct 6

orienteering race 1:14:34 [5]
ahr:172 max:179
Oceania long. Was really looking forward to this run but I felt really tired and pathetic for most of it. Normally Id be fine going through the slow terrain but just wasnt able to lift my legs and run fast.
Navigation was pretty fie though I lost a few mins in 30 sec end of leg mistakes and hesitations.
8 mins behind grace
running warm up/down 20:00 [2]

Friday Oct 5

orienteering race 12:34 [5]
ahr:178 max:188
Sprint champs. I started in a bit of a hurry and lost 20 sec on the first one, then lot 10 sec on another few by not reading the map so well at the start of the leg and then being unsure. Running felt pretty fast.
running warm up/down 25:00 [3]
15+10

Wednesday Oct 3

running 30:00 [3]
Ran around Ineka's property, along some roo tracks and up a big hill... Was feeling a bit sluggish (because of the heat?) and it was reeeally windy on the top of the hill.
orienteering race (BEER O) 15:00 [3]
I started off pretty well after sculling the first warm beer and running the first loop pretty fast, then struggled on the next few beers though i managed to run well.. it didnt really hit me till I finished. very entertaining evening

Tuesday Oct 2

Note
We went toboggoning at perisher!! Was quite tiring climibing up the slopes.. but definately worth it. Even did some 'snowboarding' on the toboggonos.
R ankle feeling sore from yesterday, though it felt fine lastnight.

Monday Oct 1

orienteering race 38:19 [5]
Oceania Middle. Started off ok then made a few really dumb mistakes after falling on my ankle, then lost some more minutes towards the end, rushing short legs. Was running too agressively, not navigating enough.
running warm up/down 15:00 [2]
warmed up
