Note

Tobias and I are on our way!
First stop Moscow, arriving tomorrow morning with the overnight train from Riga!
It's going to be a full on few months of travel, and I don't think I'll be logging any training.. I chucked my running shoes this morning for as light a pack as possible!

I'm really happy I made it to WOC in the end this year, and really pleased with my middle race. Also looking forward to running in Aussie terrain again soon!

orienteering 44:00 [4]

Went out to one of the spectator races - lovely open pine, flattish with bit very wet marshes and some nice contours. Very energy sapping ground to run on though, felt pretty tired!
Although this terrain was much more beautiful than the WOC terrain, I think the terrain we had made for much tougher and more interesting races.

riding 3:15:00 intensity: (2:30:00 @1) + (45:00 @2)
slept:7.0

Hired a bike to see a bit more of Latvia!
Really nice dirt tracks up the river* from Sigulda to Ligatne, peaceful forest and fields and little farms. Rode very easy and had a few half hour scenic stops.
I planned to get a train back from Ligatne but realized the train station was 10km away in Augsligatne, where I discovered that there wasn't a train for another few hours so had to ride all the way back to Sigulda. So it ended up much longer than I planned.

*not the embargoed side!

Running 10:00 [3]
rhr:49 slept:8.5

Warm up, got drenched.
Felt a bit nervous but not too much.
Also cold mostly gone.

orienteering 37:00 [5]

WOC middle. Plan was as usual to have a controlled run, not be phased by the low runnability/visibility and be disciplined with compass. Managed to do all that and ended up 23rd which i was very pleased with!! Very close to top 20 but I needed a bit more kick on the hills at the end.
A nice result to end to my time in Europe I guess!
