Running 35:58 [3]

Jog in the mid morning sunshine with Cathy. I struggled to even move forwards to begin with but then my leg loosened so at least I could kind of struggle-jog. Cathy had to push Makky and Luca - wonderwoman!

Running 3:00:12 [3] 32.5 km (5:33 / km)

Last ditch marathon training - the 3hour run.
Went through ANU, round Lake BG (anticlockwise), had a gel and 2x ibu in Lennox Gardens. Over Kings through Campbell and onto the Ainslie loop track. Grant peeled off to go home at Ainslie (40 mins to go) and I lost my motivation soon after. Last half hour was a bit slow and I still had 5 mins to go when I got home, so had to run arounf the blocks for a bit. Gmaps pedometer says 32.5km but I hope it wasn't accurate and I actually ran further ;-)

Note

It was so warm today! I ran in shorts and t shirt!

Running 41:00 [3]

Evening run from Ria's through Kaleen and surrounds. Followed by yummy dinner and ice cream!
Leg sore but got better as the run went on

Running 40:02 [3]

Even though I'm on "stand down" I didn't get out for a run until 5pm! I'm very good at procrastinating. Wattle-Dryandra-David loop but then via OConnor ovals to get over 40. Still at 39 so I had to run to the eastern side of our apartment to get 40. Now that qld is over, I have a 2 weeks training plan for the Melbourne marathon. Today was a 40min jog.

Note

Missed the security debacle at Brisbane airport, but nearly got caught up in one of our own! Our incoming plane arrived at the time we were supposed to depart, so we were going to be half an hour late getting in to Sydney, but our 8.20pm bus was booked to give us 1.5hours leeway, so should have been cruisy. As we were seated and about to go down the runway, we were told we failed the mechanical checks and some engineers had to come and fix the plane. Hmmm, not looking good. Ended up leaving 1.5hours late and touched down in sydney at 8.08pm. Waited at the baggage claim as all the business class luggage came off...then waited and waited. Grant tried to hold the bus for a few mins and did a good job of stalling him. Grant's luggage came off so he took off with it to ask for just 30seconds more, 20 pieces later and there was mine, sprinted down the airport road as the bus was pulling away. Thankfully he stopped and we made it on!

Orienteering race (Aus Relays) 32:25 [3]

A fun relay - ALJ changed over to me and I tried not to fang off and get lost. Didn't get lost, but didn't get a lot of them cleanly...30sec mistakes on a handful of controls. Scrappy run. Great last leg by JLA to bring us in to 2nd! Kiwis just ahead.

My aim over the 5 races in QLD was to have a run that I was really proud of. Didn't happen - I just make too many mistakes. Happy with the first half of the long if you can count that.

Orienteering race (Aus Champs) 1:25:15 [3]

So, after a couple of shockers last weekend, I was really determined to stop and read the map more, making sure I knew where I was. Also, I was going to check compass constantly.
Started off well for me and I got #1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6...all cleanly! Starting to think wow, this is going great but don't get too excited yet. Got #7, 8, 9, 10 (wish I'd taken the track option instead of the green creek but oh well), 11, 12, 13 all ok - just little wobbles. But then I bombed out on #14 massively. Couldn't make sense of it and stupidly changed my mind about where I thought I was half way through the leg and wandered a long way away. Relocated after a while and got the control. Must have switched off on #15 as well as I drifted too far to the right and lost a couple of mins. So 10 minutes of mistakes on 2 controls. The rest were ok. Pleased to do most of the course well, but very disappointed to make such a big stupid mistake

Orienteering race (Aus Sprint Champs) 19:00 [3]

A bit of a 'should have' kind of run. Should have not drifted into the bush on #2 (lost ~20sec), should have trusted myself that I was on the right building at #9 even though I couldn't see the control (lost ~15sec), should have punched #21 instead of the boys one (yep, mp but probably saved a few seconds, ha ha), and should have gone from 22->23 not straight to 24 (lost ~40sec). So a mp is very disappointing, but I wasn't happy with my run anyway. Too many mistakes

Running 37:52 [3]

Lovely early morning run with Cathy and the dogs on some tracks. Today is staff ice cream day at school (my initiative) - basically, you eat ice cream all day. I can't wait for recess...

Note

Yesterday our plane left Hervey Bay an hour late and we missed our connecting flight from Brissie to Canberra, so they put us (Grant, Hoggster and me) up in a posh hotel with meal vouchers and we got up at 4.30am and caught the first plane to the Berra. Arrvied at 8am and ALJ picked us up and I got to school at 8.50am. I'm still wearing the same clothes (not my o clothes) as the weekend - doesn't feel too great!

Running 40:00 [3]

Felt a bit jetlagged (!) but it was nice to get out for a run after school in the drizzling rain. Solo one on the Wattle-Dryandra-David loop. In all my deliriousness I accidently took off my watch just before the run and when I got back to our complex, I undid my shoelace to get my key, but my key was in my pocket.

Orienteering race (QLD Long) 1:23:00 [3]

Meant to start off cleanly...wasted a bit of time at #1 though (and should have run the track the whole way) then stuffed #2 by about 3 mins, as well as #3 by 3 or 4 mins. This was starting to feel like yesterday. Tried to get it together and managed to get a few ok, but also wasted 1-2 mins on a lot of the others. Only positive thing was that I felt good running didn't get tired and didn't stop for a drink.

Very very disappointed with the weekend.

THANKS HEAPS to BelindaL for running up in W21E!! Awesome job for the cockies :-)

Orienteering race (Aust Middle) 42:00 [3]

Complete shocker. I knew compass and direction would be super important today, but as well as not doing this enough, I also didn't count gullies and creeks properly, and I did my old 'I'll run and hope' trick. Even when I really tried to keep contact and slow down, it didn't work. Multiple minutes wasted or I was lost at #2, 5, 6 and lots of one minute mistakes all over the shop. Think the only one I got cleanly was number 3 and that's when BelindaL was just in front!
Very grumpy with this run especially as I'd been looking forward to it for ages
