Thursday Jul 31

Running intervals 13:00 [3]
Five Hills @ Aranda

Hoggster's notorious FH was the play of the day. The instructions were to run hard and be stuffed at the end of the fifth hill, not the first.

Spur Hill --> 2.35
Rollercoaster --> 2.47
Bastard Hill --> 2.00
Rollercoaster Plus --> 4.49
Shorty --> 0.41

Felt fine, though could feel my morning coffee creeping up my throat in the 4th hill. I was very annoyed that acejase fanged past on Shorty. Once I realised he was a comin, it was too late, plus there was no matching that speed.

Wednesday Jul 30

Running 40:24 [3]
Early morner with Cathy and puppies around Hackett and on the reserve. Lost the dogs for a while, which was a bit of a worry, but luckily they came back! Cathy told me Maka calls me Shampoo :-)
Running 53:07 [3]
Head lampa run from Mace's abode with Mace, Kye, Ria and Kathie. It was very dark, and we pumped around the streets and Aranda bushland. One intereseting topic of convo was whether rats would prefer to be sewer rats or lab rats. Run was followed by delish dinner cooked by chef M

Running 30:00 [3]

Running intervals 17:18 [3]
National Museum intervals with Mace and Kylie. We did our loop in reverse (so more uphill) and had a bit of a headwind along the water's edge. I got slower and slower today!

C • a loop with more uphill one... 3

Monday Jul 28

Running 31:09 [3]
Solo evening slow jog on my 30min loop ---> David-Dryandra-Macarthur

Sunday Jul 27

Running warm up/down 15:00 [3]
Orienteering 45:18 [3] 6.6 km (6:52 / km)
Timber Tops

A freezing day at TT. My aim for today was to run smoothly and cleanly, and to try to always know where I was. This didn't work out. Wasted about a minute on #2, a couple on #3 (Mace overtook me here) and took 10mins (should have taken 6mins?) to #6 where I really stuffed around...silly. I think I was trying to run too fast. Ah well, a good hot chocolate @ Bungers on the way home HTS

Saturday Jul 26

Running 59:30 [3]
Run with K and K up to the Blackie saddle. Did a harder pace on the loop around Little Blackie (11.30). Was supposed to be like a race pace interval, but we were still chatting most of the way, so it wasn't. Then easy jog back home.

Friday Jul 25

Running 25:02 [3]
Raced home to get a solo run in before dark...but I'd had a big lunch at 3.30pm so was a bit full. Anyway, jog up David st in 10.40, harder running for 10 mins along Dryandra and Macarthur to O'Connor ovals and a few mins jog back to base.
C • Hey Shannon I thought what ... 6

Thursday Jul 24

Running warm up/down 15:00 [3]
Orienteering 18:00 [3]
Cockies Training @ Reconciliation Place

Oranges and Lemons intervals set by acejase. Super fun!
4 sets of intervals where I had to get 2 our of 3 lemon controls in the 'orange' circle. I was a bit nervous about how the hammy would hold up bc I haven't done anything fast in about a month. It went well... but has been pretty achy at school today. Didn't get time to stretch afterwards, maybe that's why

Wednesday Jul 23

Running 49:14 [3]
Head lamp run with Ria, Kylie and Kate up Wattle onto O'Connor and Bruce Ridges and back down Macarthur. Fun to run with the girls and running at night is a novelty, I'd never go by myself!

Tuesday Jul 22

Running 44:14 [3]
Evening run with Grant through Braddon, Ainslie and Dickson. Didn't feel as good as yesterday...boo. Still keeping up with the exercises, hmmm, might increase the voltarin dosage...
I was also hungry...not a good combo (hungry + me + running)
C • voltaren dosage... 2

Monday Jul 21

Running 41:00 [3]
Evening solo up Wattle, along Dryandra and down David st. Feeling good, even after a day at work! Slowed to a real jog the last half as the hamburglar was getting tight

Sunday Jul 20

Running 1:09:22 [3]
Gang Gang run from Hackett with a small group of cockies around Ainslie and through the saddle. I was hoping to run comfortably for 45+mins and it was pretty good. Sfoglia then home for more drugs, stretches, exercises and a 2 hour nanna nap which will have to cease tomorrow as cool school is back.

Saturday Jul 19

Running 36:36 [3]
Solo jog up David St, through CSIRO and onto the Little Blackie Loop Track near the substation. Was thinking how's the serenity, when I saw a random man standing on the track ahead, so I freaked out and bolted off in the other direction back down to the streets
C • I think you might have seen... 2
Riding 1:05:00 [3]
Donned the MTB gear for my first ride in several months on Grace's bike. Met Ria, Pete and their friend for a ride through Bruce Ridge, I was hopeless and barged a tree within 5 mins. I think I like the idea of mountain biking more than actually riding
Note
Got Random breath tested (while driving, not riding) on Ginninderra Drive ... Grant conducted 87 RBTs today, but luckily not at that spot!

Friday Jul 18

Running 30:15 [3]
Longest run in a week! Anti-inflams working a treat... Able to jog pretty comfortably, though once again, feeling it towards the end. With Grant to Dicko, Southwell ovals and home

Thursday Jul 17

Running 21:56 [3]
Jog up and down David St...For the first time in a couple of weeks, it was bearable! Not great, but better. Getting painful and numb/dead leg towards the end though
C • Don't give up 5

Wednesday Jul 16

Running 20:01 [3]
A lovely midday jog with ALJ, Max, Cathy and Luca around the streets of Hackett. All of us had forgotten our watches but Cathy assured me it was more than 20 minutes (could have been 30, but I'm logging it just over the challenge requirement so it's not cheating). Hammy crap but the pace wasn't too fast thanks to two prams.

Tuesday Jul 15

Running 22:30 [3]
Jog to OConnor ovals and jogged around them for a while. Tried to do a few bigger strides but it hurt too much
C • is it..... 2

Monday Jul 14

Running 21:41 [3]
The maestro CH worked on stupid leg this morning, so I was really looking forward to the jog. Felt bouncy for first few minutes possibly due to:
a) It was beautiful weather and i was wearing shorts and t shirt (and gloves)
b) My leg/back had had an hour of massage
c) I'd seen the woc sprint map and photos and it looked fun
d) I'd eaten a lot of koolmints

But anyway, after about 5 mins it was hard going, and not so enjoyable after all

Sunday Jul 13

Running 23:00 [3]
Started the long run with the cockies but turned around just after 20mins and walked/jogged back to base. I saw a jambulance.

Saturday Jul 12

Running 23:10 [3]
A plod with Max out at Googong Dam, just to get 20mins. Then I sat and read the paper while the others were doing the half mara :-)

Friday Jul 11

Running 31:56 [3]
An absolute crawl along Sullivans to Dickson with Grant to get a DVD. Very painful. What was more painful was the fact that they had the entire 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th series of Spooks. I never thought that you'd be able to hire it, silly silly me. I bought #3 yesterday and #4 on ebay half an hour before the run. Oh well, I hired #4 anyway, so I can watch it this weekend!
C • free spooks 4

Thursday Jul 10

Running 40:00 [3]
Cockies training from Bluendells' Cottage. I didn't do them as intervals because as jase kindly pointed out, i was getting dropped on the warm up. So I kept up a jog and skipped controls. Stupid HS is mega sore...I had been hoping for a miracle cure.

Got to sample Vanilla (2 vanilla pods where the double "l" is...) Bean's breakfast - waffle caked in icing sugar and coffee for $4.50 an absolute bargain.

Wednesday Jul 9

Running 39:00 [3]
A nice pram run with Cathy and Luca along the bike path, followed by scrumptious pannies.

Cathy then facilitated an impromptu physio session (my first ever!) on her cool, purple massage table, to have a look at my hamstring. She is a master. I have got some stretches and strengthening exercises...looking forward to doing them so it gets better.
Running 1:02:08 [3]
Night run with ALJ, mace and Kylie with lamps. Up the Al Jones MT, up PB hill, round circum track and down the single track, through ANU to the metro. Leg really really sore at the end.

Tuesday Jul 8

Running 39:12 [3]
Bridge to bridge with Al and Max at lunch time. Nice to get out for some fresh air...watching a season of Spooks every day or two is tough going! Hamstring slightly better...maybe there is no need for stretching afterall
;-)

Monday Jul 7

Running 33:00 [3]
An afternoon jog via the River Thames (aka Sullivan's stormwater creek) with Al and Max. Nice to get out for a jog, but my leg still hurts a lot, and it wasn't very comfortable at all. Cold worse today too.
Better eat my piece of fruit - aim is to eat at least one piece every day of the holidays. It's going to be tough

Sunday Jul 6

Orienteering 1:54:15 [3]
Jim Sawkins Memorial Event - Goorooyaroo and Mulligans Flat

Cockies group effort on the long-o today. I was visiting Struggle Street the whole way - sore hammy and v. sore feet by the end too. That place is so stoney and tussocky. Took a tumble early on also.

Tilleys afterwards - that place is getting more and more disappointing each visit (and so I don't go very often now). Both wedges and nachos were an absolute disgrace. Luckily the caramel milkshake was a winner
Running warm up/down 22:00 [3]
Warm down from finish to cars. Soooooo tired and sore

Saturday Jul 5

Running warm up/down 15:00 [3]
Running race (ACT XC) 24:58 [3] 6 km (4:10 / km) vdot: 48.1
Narrabundah

Wasn't looking forward to xc today due to sore throat and feeling like I'm getting sick (usual thing - first day of holidays!)

Never been running out this way, and it was a little surprise, especially for Grant who could not control his excitement at the crossie course today. It had it all - ditches, mud, single track, creek crossing (no water), short sharp hill, single track, double track and a bit of oval. Total grass course too.
Nemesis girl stuck behind me until 5km then took off, I had nothing, and was actually waiting for her to pass me the whole way

Lap 1 12.28
Lap 2 12.30

Friday Jul 4

Running 43:50 [3]
Early morning run with Kye and Kev around the streets of Hawker then around the pinnacle when it got a bit lighter. Kev was very jumpy and excited soI tried to keep out of his way!

Thursday Jul 3

Running warm up/down 10:00 [3]
Running 25:00 [3]
Really fun o intervals at the ANU set by ALJ, robw and Maxarama. Could easily have been a World Ranking Event - was route choice on every leg! I never knew which way to go, so usually just followed someone who looked like they did. Really fun! Next week, I will be able to have breakfast afterwards :-) Yipeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Wednesday Jul 2

Running 39:36 [3]
Early morning jog with Cathy and dogs on Hackett tracks. Very nice morning out...and then got crazily windy in the day = psycho kids climbing walls and pole in classroom (literally)
C • Only two days to go!! 3

Tuesday Jul 1

Running intervals 12:00 [3]
4x3min intervals in blustery conditions at the crackers with ALJ and mace. Those two were super speedy and I was dropping off the back. Nearly got blown off both bridges!
Running warm up/down 25:00 [3]
