Sun Run - Dee Why to Manly (4miles)

Sooooo hot and humid!! Did a couple of minutes of jogging as a warm up but my shin was hurting a lot so inctead of doing 4km I did about 4 mins. I planned on pulling the plug in the race if it was this sore. Funny though, my leg hurts more in walking and jogging than faster running. Got through the race - a loooooong way behind Andrea who I train with. My km rate was the slowest in any race for the last few years. Oh dear! I seem to be doing a lot of PWs lately. I got a commemorative plate as a prize....missed out on the $500 mizuno pack!!

No warm down. Instead, Grant, Andrea, Laura and I walked up the hill to Fairlight and had breaky at the local cafe. Nice! It got to 41 degrees this day - good weekend to come to sydney...

Trying to warm up the leg. Pretty unsuccessful, it was really sore. Can't hop on it at all (not that I hop around on a daily basis but basically it hurts to have weight on it)

Mulligan's Flat

Hauled myself around the course. Sometimes drifted a bit but the visibility is so good you can usually fix it before making a proper mistake. Didn't have any oomph today - think the last week or 2 of training has caught up. It was cool to run through the massive animal gates at 2 and 8!

Have planned to have the next 2 days off running in the hope that it will help my shin. Ice and anti-inflams are not doing anything. Hopefully can still run Sun Run on Saturday, but maybe not.

Official cross country was cancelled due to the temp, but most people ran anyway - and someone called out times. It was 36deg and really windy. I hadn't done a warm up (again!) and my leg was sore, but got better as the race went on. It was a complete struggle the whole way and I did a PW for a 5km for the last couple of years!! 9.11 then 9.38. Baaaaaaaad

Slow jog afterwards with grant and olle. Funniest was when Trevor sledged olle about the twilight series.. Well when Trevor found out olle wasn't going to mulligans tomorrow he brought out the big fist pump, had a massive smile and told him he was gone.

Callan Park

Was in Sydney for the day so I test ran the final Sydney Sprint Series for Helen. It was pretty hot! My right shin has been annoying lately (hurts to walk up stairs or to take any weight etc...) and it was particularly bad this arvo. Sort of limped around the course - it was fun! No more comments about it though in case anyone reading is going to run it ;-)

Orienteering race (Sydney Sprint) 14:44 [3] 3.1 km (4:45 / km)

Cumberland Hospital

Hung around Sydney Town for the sprint in Parra... It was a great course on a little area - mostly buildings and park/oval. I missed a gap into #3 and a gap out of #6 and lost some seconds on #5. Oh and I circumnavigated the thicket at #10 which was me being lazy and not reading the map or descriptions. It was really fun! Might have to organise a sprint series in Canberra next summer.

Had taken some medicine after Callan Park because my leg was so sore and it worked - don't remember feeling any pain at all!

Didn't warm up or down - Catherine is a bad influence ;-)

Running 2:16:40 [3] 29.0 km (4:43 / km)

Long run, mainly with Hannah an Jackie. From home via Andrea's, Dicko Ovals and then on the Ainslie loop plus extension of Anzac Pde, bridge to bridge, Anzac Pde and back on the loop track. Also an extra km or 2 when we passed the turn off near War Memorial. Was a solid pace for me and I was getting tired at the end. All done by 10am and it was starting to get hot! Their garmins said 27.5km to Andreas and I jogged slowly there and back so think an extra 1.5 or 2km should be about right.


Haven't written down my training for more than 6 months and I'm starting to forget training times and pbs. So I'm getting back on ap!
