Running race 54:47 [3] 11.0 km (4:59 / km) +489m 4:04 / km

Charlotte Pass to Kosciuszko

The alarm went off at 4am and I picked up rob at 4.30am for the drive to the high country! Was a good trip and we got there with an hour to spare (8.30am start).

There were good girls to race - Hannah, Vanessa, Elizabeth and Louise. The first several hundred metres were the steepest I think then it was gradual uphill for several km (and some flat, little down) to Snowy River (half way). I tried to get a gap early on the gentle stuff before it got steeper which is where i thought it would suit Vanessa.

The weather was great - it had cleared up and was really good visibility. I could see Dave O ahead and Rob ahead of him for most of the way. Had a good gap by snowy river and even though I felt like crap I tried to keep up the pace but it felt like a slow jog. Turned around at rawsons pass and saw that I was pretty safe which was good because I was stuffed and battled on the last 1.7km to the top of kosi.

Running 1:30:00 [3]

Ran back down the mountain with the girls as well as Rob, Dave and Scott. We went on the Main Range track via Blue Lake. It was fun! The weather had set in though so we didn't have any amazing views except fog. Heaps of water everywhere too so had to have a mandatory plunge pool walk through snowy river.

Best bit of the day was the quirky polish presentation, complete with Olympic music, prizes such as polish hip hop CDs and a polish song about Thaddeus Kosciusko. John Harding put on another great race.

Note
(rest day)

Had quite a few lately so thought another one can't hurt. Resting for the kosi run tomorrow. Got a sore throat at night. Annoying!!

Running 35:00 [3]

Jogged from home onto the ridges to AIS - was Grant's time keeper/lap counter for his 10km. Had to stop a couple of times to massage my shin. Was going to do longer but just wasn't worth risking it. Was so much more enjoyable watching people race 25 laps than run myself!

Running warm up/down 15:00 [3]

Warm up around the hill. Huge improvement on my leg so I decided to run. Something still funny going on but don't know what. Considering I was convinced it was broken last week, I'm happy with the progress!

Orienteering 29:05 [3] 4.5 km (6:28 / km)

Mt Rogers

A great little area with rocks and tracks (and a big hill!). Top course with lots of route choice I thought. Came unstuck on #10 when I followed the wrong single track!! Hit the loop track, prob lost a minute? A few other wobbles and not sure if I went the best ways.. Didn't feel great running but it was good to be able to run. Was very hesitant running in the long grass with little bits of rocky ground hidden in there. Gotta love dodgy rodge!

Note
(injured) (rest day)

I was going to go riding after work and see if that was ok for the leg. But my new phone arrived so I played around with that instead. Apple is so smart - I synced it and nearly everything was backed up without me realising. More icing and massaging on the leg. It seems to be improving but I'm not sure. Could be in my head. Might test jogging tomorrow...

Swimming 25:00 [3] 1.0 km (25:00 / km)
(injured)

I hate swimming!!!!! It was so boring and I doubt I'll go back!!

Note
(injured) (rest day)

No chance of running. Yesterday Grant got stuck into this massive bubble thing that felt like a cyst on the top and side of my shin (maybe the tibialis anterior??). It was probably top 5 pain I have ever felt and he either spread the injury to my whole lower leg or helped it... who knows?!!
