Thursday Dec 28

Running 1:00:00 [3]
Got into tallin this morning. feeling pretty shit after 2 lousy nights sleep on the boats so after checking into the hostel i went out for jog before lights in and around the old town. pretty confusing at times without a map!

cant wait to check out the city more.

prolly some ints this arvo

Monday Dec 25

Running 1:40:00 [3]

Long run on Lugnet, OK kares main training map, with gunnar and Karl, evas dad and big bro. gunnar is 65 but in frigging good shape, really impressive...he has raced a marathon every other year for the last 20 or so.

ran a trail called bergstigen which basicall does a big loop of the forest.

heaps of people out for a xmas stroll

Sunday Dec 24

Gympa 1:00:00 [3]
Jul gympa with eva and her dad.

nothing like a bit of a circuit class the morning you celebrate christmas

Saturday Dec 23

Running 1:35:00 [3]
what a wicked night!!

did a long run with Eva, sofia who was just in aus, and 2 lenas.

the street one of the girls lives on own a cool sauna right next to a lake, so we cranked it up, cut a whole in the ice and went for a dip. one of those...how did i end up here moments!

run was pretty cruisey, havent been feeling fantastic recently tho

Friday Dec 22

Running 1:05:00 [3]
Came down to Falun on wednesday night to stay with Eva tiselius (was in aus last year) and her fam for chrissy.

really random, met a family from canberra on the train from Åre to Östersund. the other side of the world and our houses ´back home are only a suburb apart!!

was meant to run a night O last night with some dudes here, -6deg and a minor problem with transport were the only excuses i needed not to do it.

bit of an exploratory run today round falun. nice little city, lovely morning to be out running. definately getting a cold though, shame....have to smash the OJ before hitting europe.

its great to write some english.....by brain is exploding from too much swedish here. did nothing yesterday except bake a gingerbread house and talk swedish but was buggered by bedtime.

Tuesday Dec 19

Skiing (XC) 3:00:00 [3]
hired some skis today. went out onto the lake first for a bit of practice cos i knew i was going to be pretty super shit. hopped on the bus down the road to björnen where they have some xc loops. did the 5km loop and then decided to be adventurous and did the 10km.

super rooted coming back, definately could have run faster but nonetheless was a good day out. couch and skiing on tv were just reward for a tough day

Sunday Dec 17

Running 1:10:00 [3]
loop out to the east and west of town. snow was really bucketing down today, could hardly see at some points. quite slow, but enjoyable.

Saturday Dec 16

Running 1:50:00 [3]
In Åre, northern sweden staying with a friend from ARWC. snow is pretty shit at mo so dont know how much skiing gonna be done.

ran up the mountain and across to the world champs course (held here in feb). ran the bottom half of that then nearly got run over by 2 skiddos bolting down the run.

pretty slow plod, tough in the snow.

Thursday Dec 14

Running intervals 24:00 [3]
really tough.

16 X 90s on 45 rest
Running warm up/down 40:00 [3]
included running drills
Gympa 45:00 [3]
swimming 45:00 [3]
aqua jogging with boris and zan, good times

Wednesday Dec 13

Orienteering race 45:00 [3]
night O.

bit of a debacle.

Monday Dec 11

Gympa 55:00 [3]
my first monday night class. I could never go before caus of swedish class, wish i had tho because this is way more fun.

Felt like a bit of an unco trying to figure out the moves everyone was doing, by the time i had grasped them we were onto a new set. probably easier the 2nd time.

good way to escape the 'winter' cold i reckon

Sunday Dec 10

Running 40:00 [3]
never happened to me before but i got 200m out the door, stopped and seriously considered turning around i felt so bad. mind won over body in the end and thankfully felt progressively better.

good arvo/evening on the couch watching the nobelprize festivities and checking out the form of the swedish princesses, it was excellent......

Thursday Dec 7

Running intervals 30:00 [3]
6X5min with 2 rest.

pushed really hard in the first 4, pretty shagged by the last 2. 5 mins seems suprisingly long, spose you can cover a fair bit of real estate in that time tho
Running warm up/down 30:00 [3]
including some running drills.

warm down was more trying to fire myself up for gympa
Gympa - stark 45:00 [3]
new soundtrack tonight, ripper stuff.

Nothing compares to the feeling of doing ankle exercises to 'Forever Young', good times
C • sweet- I'm psyched for some ne... 2

Wednesday Dec 6

Running 1:15:00 [3]
Teacher decided not to turn up today and was bored at library.

last few weeks i feel like i have lost all speed in my legs. headed over to stadskogen for 2 laps of the track there. 10.44 and 10.36. thought i was running quite well but despite it being a bit slippery those times dont seem super nippy for the 2.5km i thought the loop was.

did the obligatory run round the castle, past my nation, round the church and back thru the cemetary.

nice relaxed 2 hr fika in the arvo
Orienteering (night O) 34:18 [3]
Björn's night O at Vadyxa.

nearly a perfect run...these never happen for me in sweden.

no real mistakes except from the last control to the finish i made a stupid stupid error coming off a paddock and didnt check my compass so ran thru way more shitty woods than i had to, loosing 90seconds maybe. had seen no lights behing mefor a few controls so must have had a reasonable break on the short coursers, popped out to the road to see 3 people there. shame.

really enjoying the night O. terrain was super rocky so ate shit a few times tonight

Tuesday Dec 5

Running 1:45:00 [3]
OK linnés winter training premiar, another cracker event, geez some effort goes into things over here.

music, fireworks, false starts, more and better music, fireworks and properstarts.

just a usual tuesday night run but with lots of people and a twist called Poker OL, nåsten hold 'em. had a blown up map of part of the the loop with some controls marked, at 2 of them you could pick up a card (from people dressed as croupiers!!) and then u kept running ur loop. along the way you saw the flopp, turn and river and could swap cards with others if you wanted.
all the cards had someones face on them....i made it onto the 6 and zan on the 4.

felt good, havent done much running the last few days so was nice to be out in the forest. a ridiculous amount of mud around added another element too

Friday Dec 1

swimming 45:00 [3]
Recovery session, mainly from last night rather than any actual training.

Steam room, dip pool and sauna were top notch as always! Coffe and linnébulle as a reward
